I've started to get the feeling that I'm just not in the right place/surrounded by the right people to be appreciated. Otherwise I can't really understand what's wrong with me. I've played the game and done the things that are supposed to build community and allow me to connect with others, and I was genuine in my interactions with other people. Maybe it's just an incredibly unlucky spin on my part that I keep meeting people that aren't able to meet me where I am. Maybe that's what it is for you too.

Just embrace being disliked. Not everyone is going to like you no matter what their reason is. People aren’t reacting to you, but what’s inside of them. You can’t fix that for them.
