I wonder if during WW2 there was all those edgy weirdoes writing news articles about how Hitler isnt a bad guy after all

like those guys making posts now defending Putin
Longpatrol · 31-35, M
Like Charles Lindbergh, he'd fit well in these Trumpian times
Harmonium1923 · 51-55, M
@Longpatrol Philip Roth wrote a brilliant novel on exactly that topic--The Plot Against America.
Longpatrol · 31-35, M
@Harmonium1923 I'll have to borrow a copy from the library, definitely going on my to-read list

@Longpatrol Yes, and Henry Ford!

iirc there were active pacifist movements which sought to both sides bad the situation & befriend Nazi Germany. The similarities are both funny and depressing, I'm glad these turds are so consistently in the minority.
gol979 · 41-45, M
Pointing out the overt lies of the western media is considered defending putin. Bringing up the minsk agreements is defending putin. Pointing out the azov battalions links to nazis is defending putin. Pointing out the warmongering and bloodlust is defending putin.

They are all on the same side and the only people they are at war with is us
SumKindaMunster · 51-55, M
@gol979 I want you to know I appreciate what you are doing here and you are not alone in your perspective. 👍

@CopperCicada im not condoning war/putin. Im pointing out that there is nuance and its not just "Putin bad man". They are all parasites and the only people suffering are normal people......saying that, bucha really does stink of propaganda. Theres some very strange videos coming out and the timeline and the official version of events is starting to look suspicious to say the least
DailyFlash · 56-60, M
. Feb 1939 a pro-Nazi rally held at Madison Square Garden in NYC.
DailyFlash · 56-60, M
It was called "Pro American Rally.". Conspiracy theories of millionaire Jews buying off politicians were rampant. They called Roosevelt “Rosenfeld”. That he was a Jewish puppet. The term “America First” was introduced by this crowd. The parallels to now are uncanny.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
Or Zelenskyy. There are no good guys in this war including Biden.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@ViciDraco I don't follow Q anon. Never have and never will. I do know people who live in Eastern Ukraine. They were telling me that Zelenskyy was imposed as president by western interests. All the evidence I have found backs up that account. Sadly you are misinformed. Likely read nothing but US propaganda/MSM news.
DailyFlash · 56-60, M
@hippyjoe1955 so your credible source is a guy told you?
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@DailyFlash And your source is???? Actually my source is more than one and neither are guys.
Coppercoil · M
Not just ww2. All throughout recorded history. The history you read the nore you see nothing changes. People are easy to fool and never learn.
jackson55 · M
Putin should get two to the back of the head.
There were very highly ranked supporters of Hitler in the free world including members of the British Aristocracy
@hippyjoe1955 that too for sure
firefall · 61-69, M
@ElGwapo like the immediate ex-King of the time

Well, prior to WWII Henry Ford was strongly pro-Hitler and anti-Jewish, Charles Lindbergh was pro-Hitler, a radio demagogue named Father Coughlin was strongly pro-Nazi and heard all across the USA. They tended to shut up after we entered the war.
firefall · 61-69, M
Yeah, there were, but they were writing on mimeographs and distributing their newsletters by hand (or from jail if they went too far in advocating treason). The internet is very mixed blessings
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
A large part of the British political and cultural establishment were sympathetic, not least because Germany was seen as a more natural wartime ally than France. Edward VIII visited Hitler after his abdication and he continued to advocate for him throughout the war.

Probably. Everyone's got fanatics.
Who is defending Putin?
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
There was although those weirdoes didn't have access to satellite pics, the volume of eyewitness accounts supported with video in real-time, and forensic evidence. Now the Putin apologists have no excuse whatsoever for being accomplices.
Fluffybull · F
Edward VIII.
You have several in this thread.
I usually don't mind utter nonsense but in defense of such a malignant character as Putin, it is disgusting.
Royrogers · 61-69, M
Fortunately for Britain the realists out numbered the appeasers. I don’t think Edward iiiv was ever forgiven
Considering Hitler had a good amount of support in Germany- probably. Let’s not forget, his people loved him.
meJess · F
What if there is no Putin and it’s all a deep fake
firefall · 61-69, M
@meJess You've been watching too much Scoobie Doo 😂
meJess · F
@firefall I would have gotten away with it if it wasn’t for your meddling anti-tank kits
DailyFlash · 56-60, M
Yeah there was.
There were, both in the UK and here, at least initially. And some weren’t edgy weirdos, but were relatively well-respected people in society.
(Charles Lindbergh with Hermann Goring)
(Hitler with the Duke and Duchess of Windsor)
TJNewton · M
Anyone defending Putin wants putting to death and yes we had british politicians in WW2 shit scared of Hitler like NATO seems to be shit scared of evil little shit Putin
