Do you have a weekly social activity?

Like Tuesday night drinks with the girls, or Thursday karaoke night etc?
DrWatson · 70-79, M
I have breakfast with friends on Saturday mornings.
DrWatson · 70-79, M
@Musicman It's the same place every week.
Musicman · 61-69, M
@DrWatson Nothing wrong with that if they have good food 😋 Is it a mom and pop or a chain?
DrWatson · 70-79, M
@Musicman It's family owned. Not a chain. We chose it for its location, but the food is great also.
saturday nights with my gang whether it's pub night or now going into the soccer season (we are season ticket holders) and heading downtown and watching the game and having some cocktails before, during...and often afterwards....but i'm pretty much a home body during the week.
Jenny1234 · 51-55, F
Weekly walks with one group of friends and dinner every couple of months with other group of friends.
Musicman · 61-69, M
@Jenny1234 How far do you usually walk? Is the scenery along the walk pretty? 🙂
Jenny1234 · 51-55, F
@Musicman we go by different walking/hiking trails around town. We have a couple of favorites, but on the days that we need a shorter walk like an hour or less, we go to one particular area.
Notanymore · 36-40, M
Once in a while I get on here to troll answers, does that count?
JimboSaturn · 51-55, M
No but I wish I did.
Musicman · 61-69, M
I attend a Men's Bible Study at the church every Monday night. We always get there early for coffee, cookies and socializing beforehand. 🙂
PerfectionOfTheHeart · 46-50, F
Once upon a time that was a thing. But life has become too sporadically busy with a mix of waking up some days and not feeling the draw of peopling. Now it’s all about the texts out of nowhere asking if I/they want to meet up in a couple of hours for lunch. And when the stars align in a way that we can both say yes, it feels all 🤩
Mardrae · F
I wish. But sadly, no. My life is exactly the same, day in and day out. Work and gym. Now I can pretend that we are talking about my two days off a week from work, which are on different days each week. My break in my routine is that I cook ( I don't cook when I work), then I treat myself to an energy drink, then I go to Walmart and buy myself a slice of this cake they sell that I eat the icing off of. When I had a little money, I would go to Goodwill and buy myself some treats. Like a new shirt or something. But had to cut that out due to financial problems. My life is incredibly boring.?
Coralmist · 41-45, F
@Mardrae I am similar... I rarely go out of my comfort zone, and all my friends and I have drifted apart. Now it is just my sister and I, but she is ill with neuropathy and can barely walk. So we don't do anything together anymore, it is heartbreaking. I hope to maybe join something once a week in addition to a possible meetup group I joined (there have not been any meetups yet though). I get nervous in social situations, ughh. but I NEED to start pushing myself or I know I will feel alone and never find love either. It has been just so lonely for years while watching friends date, or marry etc. You should def. treat yourself still, regardless if you do get out or not :)
Mardrae · F
@Coralmist yeah, I absolutely love being alone now. I hope things get better for you
Heartlander · 80-89, M
Just a thought now, but maybe SW could create location forums and possibly sub-forums by interest, and maybe that could lead to social gatherings. We did something similar with our HOA at a nearby coffee shop. It went on for a few years. At some point it thinned out and disintegrated. In thinking why it ended it was probably because they dropped reference to it in our monthly HOA newsletter.
Coralmist · 41-45, F
@Heartlander That is a really nice idea!!
DragonFruit · 61-69, M
I have Wednesday night tennis...the group has played for years, but won’t be in effect after May, and I’m moving around July or August. Fortunately, one of the guys in the group has recently moved down the road from where I’m moving to and I know another tennis player who lives in the area...so hopefully I’ll be able to get something going after the move.
GuyWithOpinions · 31-35, M
No but id like to have that. Maybe one day.
sarabee1995 · 26-30, F
Does weekends with the girlfriend count?
GovanDUNNY · M
It would be cool if we went to the cinema together every couple of weeks and a meal afterwards
I'll take you to Rangers celtic game next week if you can get ov
Coralmist · 41-45, F
@GovanDUNNY What is 'ov'?
GovanDUNNY · M
@Coralmist i meant over
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
Badminton after work on Monday. Ocean swimming with my daughter and our ladies club on Sunday mornings.
Jenny1234 · 51-55, F
@SunshineGirl what do you do at the ladies club?
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
@Jenny1234 Mainly encourage each other to swim outdoors all year round. We also drink coffee and pick up litter from the beach.
RenFur · 70-79, M
I wish I were a LOT better in social situations or I'd be at my local legion as often as I could - especially to play snooker.
JoyfulSilence · 46-50, M
This website is my only social activity. Every day!

My life is so dull.
Musicman · 61-69, M
@JoyfulSilence Sadly I understand 😕
Jenny1234 · 51-55, F
This is a really good post @Coralmist
Musicman · 61-69, M

Coralmist · 41-45, F

GeorgeTBH · 31-35, M
I play games online with my buddy once a week but it's never a set day
JimboSaturn · 51-55, M
I would like to go to a pub for trivia night, that sounds fun.
Havesomefun2 · 56-60, M
Bingo with my mum and her friends
ArishMell · 70-79, M
Most, but not every, weeks, yes, as a member of clubs devoted to my interests.

I used to play skittle regularly but was never good at it and then leg problems put paid to that!
Coralmist · 41-45, F
@ArishMell What is skittle?
ArishMell · 70-79, M
@Coralmist Skittles (plural)

An ancient game most often found in English pubs, and then much more in Southern England than the North. It is usually played by teams in local leagues.

Also called Ninepins, it is the progenitor of the American game, Ten-pin Bowling, but without all the razzmatazz, machinery, formal designs, electronic scoring, etc.

The skittles themselves are the wooden pins, nine arranged in a diamond formation marked on the alley, and spaced so a badly-aimed ball can pass between their columns, or between the outermost pin and the side-board of the alley, without knocking any pins over.

It's even possible to miss completely with all three balls in one "hand" (turn) so score 0 points in that hand... which is embarrassing :-).

The hardwood ball is a large hand-size, smaller than the Ten-pin one, and without finger-holes.

The fallen skittles are cleared from the alley between each throw, the formation rebuilt and the three balls returned for the next hand, entirely manually, by players or helpers.

There are a few subtleties that can vary from area to area, but there are few rules on the alley size, as it often has to fit the room rather than the room made to fit some "standard" length. So some alleys can be very long, though I recall one so short even our best players took two or three "hands" to judge it correctly.
exexec · 61-69, C
Not really. When we were younger, Friday night was our date night and we would get a sitter for the kids and go out with friends. Now, we get together with friends on Sunday mornings for study and worship.
Nimbus · M
Group origami.
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
No. Virtually impossible here.

I do go out. Yet it's whenever I feel like it. And it can be anything.
CountScrofula · 41-45, M
Yeah I run tabletop roleplaying games and play in a band. I go to karaoke or pub trivia on occasion.
Sevendays · M
Yes, Tuesday night pool league and a few drinks.
Coralmist · 41-45, F
@Sevendays Maybe I will join Lol.
Sevendays · M
@Coralmist please do. Do you play pool?
AccursedAlexander3 · 31-35, M
I just started going back to church. ⛪️. I was supposed to start school soon too. Have Rosetta Stone at least and some other studies to keep my mind active. How about yourself?
Coralmist · 41-45, F
@AccursedAlexander3 So I could join a book club once a week, but it would prob. only be women. I want an activity where both genders are there. Other weeky activities could be a bowling night. I enjoy bowling, but have no one to go with.
AccursedAlexander3 · 31-35, M
@Coralmist that sounds fun. What kind of things do you like to read? Bowling sounds fun too.
Coralmist · 41-45, F
@AccursedAlexander3 I love fiction most... but enjoy self help books too.
meggie · F

Livingwell · 61-69, M
