The occasional flashback nightmare is a wet cold night in London in 1988.

I met my wife after some work do. I'd drunk a lot on my own waiting in a pub near her work place. We ran to Monument tube station. The train was just about to go. I ran but completely missed the jump and went straight down between the carriage and the platform as the door started to close.

I was only there seconds before a huge South African guy hauled me up, covered in filth, and bleeding like crazy from a gash in my leg but that moment I just knew I was about to die in a very painful way.
