Yes, would prefer to have a geo-thermal home with other off-grid options…a wood-burning stove, clothesline to air-dry clothing, etc . Would also love to have an off-grid heated greenhouse as well, could grow food year-round that way.

Not off grid. But after retirement Im definitely leaving the city for a small town on a lake.

Kind of depends upon what you mean by "off-grid". If you mean being energy-independent, then yes.

If you mean going full-scale out in the boondocks subsistence living, then no.

Not unless it would surpass the benefits from living in the grid. Too much work, not enough fun.
Besides, I can't go entirely off-grid in the sense of living in a stranded island because I'm dependent on synthetic meds.

It sounds great until you want to go to a concert ,get a job ,and a million things I want to do....the only thing I do is not use the phone unless I'm out and /or internet is out
