Would you like to live off grid?

Matt8536-40, M
My parent's did until recently. Apparently the internet was slow but I couldn't notice it... And of course you have you need to have your septic tank emptied.

Yes, would prefer to have a geo-thermal home with other off-grid options鈥 wood-burning stove, clothesline to air-dry clothing, etc . Would also love to have an off-grid heated greenhouse as well, could grow food year-round that way.

Not off grid. But after retirement Im definitely leaving the city for a small town on a lake.
AlchemyFox36-40, F
Yup and I plan to in my old age.
elafina36-40, F
@AlchemyFox similarly so.. I do it from time to time yet I don't feel yet I'd want to go full on. It's like, I've some work to do and I need to be around people
AlchemyFox36-40, F
@elafina the van thing is ideal for that. I prefer nomadic and I don't want to die in a hospital or nursing home
elafina36-40, F
@AlchemyFox I've never learnt how to drive :) I'd love that...

Yeah. Until I wanted pizza delivered at a crazy hour, like 8pm.

Kind of depends upon what you mean by "off-grid". If you mean being energy-independent, then yes.

If you mean going full-scale out in the boondocks subsistence living, then no.
Notsimilarreally31-35, F
@Ontheroad full scale more so
OntheroadM
@Notsimilarreally Yeah, if I could afford to have a couple of people working for me, then yes. Otherwise, it's a whole different life-style that requires a long list of chores that have to be accomplished pretty much daily.

It certainly has a sort of allure, but the realities are anything but romantic.
Notsimilarreally31-35, F
@Ontheroad No time for internet browsing off the grid eh 馃槅
Longpatrol31-35, M
I'd love to, people tire me.
CrazyMusicLover31-35
Not unless it would surpass the benefits from living in the grid. Too much work, not enough fun.
Besides, I can't go entirely off-grid in the sense of living in a stranded island because I'm dependent on synthetic meds.
Musicman61-69, M
I would like to live more independently than we do, but I don't want to be completely off grid and away from town.
Yes I would. Just need some solar, water and I am good. Nice view would be required
HannahSkyF
Just camping 馃彆
Musicman61-69, M
@HannahSky I like your thinking 馃憤馃檪

It sounds great until you want to go to a concert ,get a job ,and a million things I want to do....the only thing I do is not use the phone unless I'm out and /or internet is out
Ferric67M
Sure
This is why I stopped using a cell phone
Ferric67M
@Notsimilarreally no one has the ability to bother me via a cellphone
It pisses off a lot of people that they can't get a hold of my....from my job to my family
But, I live a very stress free life because of it
Which I think, pisses off those same people that much more.
Notsimilarreally31-35, F
@Ferric67 lmao. Good for you. I think that's great.
Adrift61-69, F
@Ferric67 I have a cell with cheap crappy service so when I dont want to talk to someone, I just go stand in the no zone.
BobbyMoeven51-55, M
Yahhh ..

I really would .

But I'd miss you silly bunch ...
Notsimilarreally31-35, F
@BobbyMoeven but it would be worth it
Sidewinder36-40, M
And abandon modern technology? No way!
BrianPickledM
I have. It's not that difficult
Just out of the city
