It’s something I think about almost every day… I’m in my mid twenties but a long life is never a guarantee, and I’m always wondering when my time will come or how. It’s dumb but the way I see it, the earth was here before I was born and it will continue long after I’m gone. My brief existence will be remembered by some, but within 100 years, only a few people would have known I existed… 🥺
Sorry for the depressing post, I had a sad and weird dream this morning and I can’t stop thinking about it ☹️
@Ashly Exactly. I tell them that, and they tell me the same thing, that they would rather go first. It would be painful all around for sure either way.
This poem by John Donne gives me both comfort and understanding of our mortality.
Death, be not proud (Holy Sonnet 10) John Donne (1572 –1631)
Death, be not proud, though some have called thee Mighty and dreadful, for thou are not so; For those whom thou think'st thou dost overthrow Die not, poor Death, nor yet canst thou kill me. From rest and sleep, which but thy pictures be, Much pleasure; then from thee much more must flow, And soonest our best men with thee do go, Rest of their bones, and soul's delivery. Thou'art slave to fate, chance, kings, and desperate men, And dost with poison, war, and sickness dwell, And poppy'or charms can make us sleep as well And better than thy stroke; why swell'st thou then? One short sleep past, we wake eternally, And death shall be no more; Death, thou shalt die.
As someone that got cancer at 13 had 18 operations over 50 years nearly did not make it twice. I think about the future never dwell on what may happen live for today
In your dream, the woods represent feelings of being lost, or losing your way. They might also represent the unknown. The fact that you couldn't see because of the rain means that you feel you have lost your perspective, and don't know how to face "the great unknown".
The rain coming down on you, in your dream, represents a Spiritual presence. But it can also represent the washing away of old misconceptions, and starting over again. This could mean a gift...or assistance from God.
The fact that you heard your mother's voice, but didn't understand what it was saying, means you doubt your own ability to express yourself or communicate well.
@Ashly Dreams don't represent literal meanings. Your right brain can only communicate with your left brain in terms of symbols. Knowing what those symbols are sometimes turns a haunting and frightening dream into an "Oh yeah!" moment...and by that I mean your right brain is trying to help you.
I think about death but it doesn’t make me sad. There’s no reason why anyone would know who I am after the people I love have passed on.
Because that’s the point; your life is significant to those you love and those you live along side. If you achieve that and you’re happy, that’s the reason for existing. Once I’m gone, and they are gone too, everything is complete.
@SW-User you’re right, I need to be thankful that it was just that, only a dream. Thousands of people die every day and im sure they weren’t ready to go 🥺

Yes. When our time comes, we will go. Nothing can be done about it. But as long as we’re here, we have a life to live. Despite the mix of emotions in such dreams, they are actually a reminder to be grateful for every day we have @Ashly
All the time. I am just here doing my time on this planet. I want to make the most of it now. After which, I want to move on and never come back here. I am very tired. I pray that Jesus guides my soul to the end.
More than I used to because I'm on the downhill slide. Mainly, I'm thinking about what else I have to do to make things easy for my survivors when I check out.
@Ashly The only place that death could exist is within the perception you have of death which you are visualizing within your own mind. Of itself as a condition for life to exist, death does not exist in reality.
