do you meditate?

do you feel better for it?

how long did it take you to feel the benefits?

how did you start?

i started a long time ago by just quieting my mind and counting numbers like 1,2,3... this was advice for very beginners. then some visualization techniques, like picturing your mind as a river and letting your thoughts flow away with the river's flow acknowledging your thought but not making any judgement on it or clinging to it. then i got into some zen practice of mindfulness meditation like turning everyday activities into a meditation. such as washing the dishes and just focusing on washing the dishes without thoughts to distract you. also learned some mantra to focus on which i do sometimes too. i feel much better for it. i used to be the type to overanalyze everything. replay social scenarios over and over in my head. it was agonizing. it didnt take long to make a difference. when i started i would meditate to sleep.

I decided to take up meditating again, this morning. Then I forgot. You just reminded me that I didn’t.

I try! But struggle, cant relax
@Beautywithin I've been having that same problem. More lately than ever. So much on my mind.

When a thought comes, toss it out and keep going. Takes practice!@PhoenixPhail

I did a lot of meditating when I was a teenager, and I felt better when I did it. I still do it occasionally, but I need to develop a more disciplined approach. I know how, but I just don't do it.
@exexec That's me, too.

I do in my own little way. The ridiculousness of Life and the stupidity of those within it tends to mount up every now and then, so I have to woosah the crap out of a moment to get myself back to center.

Yes. Everyday. Its more so about what your thinking about and deciding how you want to feel. Think of it more like self hipnosis. If you believe its working, it is. If you dont, It wont.

I do breathing meditations. Takes a while to feel the benefits
