Anyone know any ways to get over fears fast?

I think thinner heels look better than my usual block heels, but the decrease in stability paired with my stupid phobia or whatever of dislocating my patella again makes me a twitchy mess just thinking about the possibility of stumbling.

Since the fear isn't all that unfounded, I can't force myself to stumble until it no longer registers as a threat... But I really feel like I'm wasting potential here.

I was told feel the fear and do it anyway. In this case wear the heels and carry flip flops that you can flat pack in a bag.

No thoughts at all other than I'll NEVER understand why some make their ability to move less than optimum. It's like choosing to be the weakest antelope in the herd. Just don't get it. Good luck though. I guess.

Wear them while doing, watching or listening to something you like, associate wearing them with something that makes you happy means you'll fear it less

Try a pair of thin heels with a platform sole.
They're surprisingly 'stable' and you get the best of both worlds.

When I feel that way about something I do it. But in small increments at first to get used to it and desensitize the fear.

I would wear the block heels and save the thin heels when you are running less mileage.
You don’t need the distraction.

This is where I cue to old Billy Chrystal line about "Dah'ling, it's better to look marvelous then to feel marvelous".

I am intrigued. What potential do you feel you are wasting?

@JoBlak the potential to be my sexiest self, lol. I prefer heels to flatter shoes because of how they make my legs look, but the block heels I usually wear look really casual. Which is fine most of the time, but I won't exactly look like catwoman in them.

The thinner heel is trickier to walk in, but it looks sleeker. The silhouette is much more elegant, very femme fatale in some ways. I guess I just want the option.

@NorthernRoses I am glad that it appears that it is about how YOU wish to feel.

I would start off with a small heel first , I got used to mine by walking around the house first in them and doing small chores , before I tried to do anything else in them, once you get used to that try taking them outside, I found thicker heels give you abit more balance but it depends on how you feel comfortable. Block ones seem to give you more balance like a small block not too high at first. My mum always told me practice was walking heel to toe to gain balance.

Exposure makes fears boring.
*Reads your fears* Um...not in that case...
Walk around in them until you feel comfortable

Depends on the nature of the fear. When I was a kid I was terrified by the dark, but one day I went into the dark, closed my eyes, and waited until I wasn't afraid anymore. It worked, and just in a few minutes I was not ever afraid of the dark again. Today I'll go out into the pitch black night just to enjoy myself a walk.

However not everything is solved through direct confrontation.

I advice you to get a big (40 cm thick) mattress and then just make yourself stumble and fall over and over (if it's safe for your health). You could find huge ones of these at a gymnastic training area.

@MartinTheFirst oh god nope. Nope nope nope nope nope. I'd rather die. I'd probably twist me kneecap straight to the other side of my leg in less than 10 min fuck that noise.

@NorthernRoses one day you will say "let's do it, and let's do it hard", but only after you've suffered enough.
