Satanism bugs me! I never had a problem with any religion but this, is that even a religion

I have seen people who like to make money in the name of god, but satanists are unique. They make money from satan. All they do is selling the 666 shirts, caps and props to the people! I know they have a few political stances too but they dont seem to benefit anyone! what are your thoughts on satanism?
SW-User
I mean, it doesn't really bother me. But I did grow up Catholic, and a part of me is scared of them 😂 just because the symbols they use and stuff like that are off-putting for some reason. I'm just like...no, I've watched too many ghost shows.
Thezehra · 26-30, F
@SW-User they have a specialized aesthetics. darkness
SatanBurger · 36-40, F
@SW-User The cross which represents someone else's torture kind of scares me.
lequack · 26-30, F
My thoughts are that you are incredibly ignorant on what Satanism actually is and are going off of assumptions you’ve made. It is a real religion. It does have legitimate rules and beliefs. I have multiple friends who are Santanists, and I assure you they don’t sell 666 shirts and Satan props.
Thezehra · 26-30, F
@lequack lavians dont, but satanic temple does it
SatanBurger · 36-40, F
@Thezehra Satanic temple has been and always will be secular organization, they are technically classified as non theistic. They also fight for women's reproductive rights and separation of church and state in schools.
Pherick · 41-45, M
Its more about secularism than it is a religion.

Also there are two "schools" of Satanism, the "Church of Satan" was founded by Anton LeVey in the 60's and is more old school, magic, etc. The "Satanic Temple" was founded in 2013 and is more modern.

I actually like there 7 tenets better than the 10 commandments.
One should strive to act with compassion and empathy toward all creatures in accordance with reason.

The struggle for justice is an ongoing and necessary pursuit that should prevail over laws and institutions.

One’s body is inviolable, subject to one’s own will alone.

The freedoms of others should be respected, including the freedom to offend. To willfully and unjustly encroach upon the freedoms of another is to forgo one's own.

Beliefs should conform to one's best scientific understanding of the world. One should take care never to distort scientific facts to fit one's beliefs.

People are fallible. If one makes a mistake, one should do one's best to rectify it and resolve any harm that might have been caused.

Every tenet is a guiding principle designed to inspire nobility in action and thought. The spirit of compassion, wisdom, and justice should always prevail over the written or spoken word.
SatanBurger · 36-40, F
@Pherick Thank you for this. It should be noted that many satanist groups have fought for women's reproductive rights.
Pherick · 41-45, M
@SatanBurger Yep #3 of their tenets, seems pretty straightforward which side they fall on.
Satanists are addicted to their flesh and living in the here and now. They will come to judgement just like everyone. No one is above God or the righteous judgement of the Savior.

@MalteseFalconPunch given Satanists have been accused of human sacrifices that last couple of sentences could be a bit creepy...
SW-User
True satanism is about believing in yourself, indulging in whatever you want, NOT hurting anyone etc.
It has nothing to do with sacrifices, worshiping Satan, or even believing in him.

I don't remember everything regarding satanism, but I can probably find some link for you if you want. Or you can research it yourself :)
SatanBurger · 36-40, F
@SW-User There's lots of propaganda left over from the 90s satanic panic. Ironically not all satanists are religious, some sects arose as a counter resistance against church and state.

Some of their ideas are actually great. Like the after school Satan clubs which ironically had nothing to do with satanism. The club's in fact taught equality and human rights. The subject had nothing to do with Satan lol.

They're still fighting certain states in order to have those clubs but they won the decision in most because it's religion and you can't discriminate. Which is ironically what Christians have done in school for decades, it's kind of turning the tables on them.

Most of the satanists I meet are atheistic LaVeyans... they aren't actually making money off of Satan because they don't actually believe he exists. He's a symbol for free will and knowledge, nothing more.

What's the difference anyway? Like you said, there are Christians trying to make a quick buck in God's name all the time.
Thezehra · 26-30, F
@SW-User the two divions, satanic temple, and lavians. satanic temple is a new political form and they do this stuff
QuixoticSoul · 41-45, M
The church of Satan is mostly a joke, you're just not getting it.

But also, Satan is pretty dope. He's the Promethean figure of Christian myths. He gave us our minds and was exiled for it. Brought us the fire of thought.
Kwek00 · 41-45, M
@QuixoticSoul He gave us our minds? 🤔
QuixoticSoul · 41-45, M
@Kwek00 He unlobotomized them.
Kwek00 · 41-45, M
@QuixoticSoul I think that only happened in certain interpretations of the text tough. Because for as far as I'm aware off, that isn't a correct reading of Genesis? Unless you link parts of revelelations/apokalyps in the new testament to the creature in the beginning of the old?

@AgapeLove There's many different types of satanism and many people seem not to understand that. As for saying third worlds don't concern them, I'd have to have context to really form an opinion so I'd have to watch the interview later. I did look up some things briefly and found that Bob Larson who is not impartial by the way was mostly a mess for other reasons which are obvious:

https://www.huffpost.com/entry/church-of-satan-interviewed-by-televangelist-bob-larson_b_1543751

I will say this, despite not watching it, at least they were honest and not virtue signaling. Just because you appear to give to charity doesn't mean you are good, it means you want to be good for heaven but not because you wanted to. Serial killers can fit in well with society because of this fact.

I also think that just because you are religious doesn't mean you feel like you should be altruistic and therefore altruism or no, it shouldn't have anything to do with satanism.

I think that's being religious for the wrong reasons.

I just think it's dumb. It's like kids when they're 14 and say they're communists and put hammer and sickle badges on their backpacks..
Ryannnnnn · 31-35, M
@SatanBurger Aye but nobody becomes Christian to be edgy lol
SatanBurger · 36-40, F
@Ryannnnnn That's just teen stuff, not the other ideologies of satanism. Like Christianity there's different belief systems and not all satanists are religious though some are.
Ryannnnnn · 31-35, M
@SatanBurger well that was the joke anyway
DearAmbellina2113 · 41-45, F
Satanists kind of amuse me. They're just trying to be edgy.
@Kwek00
That is curious how something so simple can come across cryptic if it isn’t revealed.
Kwek00 · 41-45, M
@Aliveshock

You said:
I studied Existentialism primary from the French POV but I also studied Nietzsche and Kafka. I prefer the finger of God that writes the Ten Commandments.
I asked: "why?"

And the answers I get are:

- The word is alive
- A bible verse (Luke 10:21)

... I'm not sure, but that is not a "simple" answer in my book. It's also not really an explanation to the question? But maybe for you it's extremely obvious. But I can tell you that I don't understand it.
@Kwek00 i shares some simple scripture. It stated that learning is not the basis for understanding the things of the spirit. It explains why men like hawking were always perplexed by anything that he couldn’t take and make fiction of.
4meAndyou · F
My thought is that religion is different for different people, but satanism glorifies the dark and all that we understand to be evil.
Thezehra · 26-30, F
@4meAndyou i read on their official website where they say do it purposely to reaffirm everything we say about them. they even say 666 is just a number but they do it just to bug us!
JBird · F
I don't see them any different than other religions. They're all worshipping a figment of imagination.
SW-User
Seems like a rebellion against Christianity mostly.
Thezehra · 26-30, F
@SW-User not only a rebellion, they mock them too much
ImKelsey · 26-30, F
It's like a worse spin-off from the main show- which is also bad.
Thezehra · 26-30, F
@ImKelsey lucifer?
Got you burned at the stake once..

What’s your golden calf?
SW-User
No different than God worshippers I guess
SatanBurger · 36-40, F
Who are you to say people don't benefit. I think that's a personal choice no? Like Christianity which has over 3,000 sects, Satanism is sort of the same thing and can be an off shoot of many different religions.

Aside from the theistic ones, not all Satanists are theistic.
GwydionFrost · 56-60, M
The irony is, naturally, in the dogma and doctrines.

If you worship Satan, then you completely missed the point of the visit to the Garden of Eden, and the gnosis therein.

You are still... what's the term again... Ah, yes... Sheeple. 😈

Most of it are trolls ? 🤷‍♂️

And when in doubt... Hail thetan!
Spokeskitties75 · 46-50, M
I like deviled eggs.... 😈

That’s about my extent into the subject. 😏
SW-User
Yeah, gives me the creeps
Harriet03 · 41-45, F
It's all bullshit!!
Egg01 · 56-60, F
I love it ❤️
Doomflower · 36-40, M
It's a hoot
I live in a country supposedly with freedom of religion. I’m not religious, but as long as they’re not hurting others it’s none of my business.
