Merry ? What ever?

I wonder if the saying Merry Christmas will be outlawed in a few years time so as not to upset the minorities. It is already outlawed in some schools? Should never had been an issue. Why outlaw something so intrinsic. To make everyone inclusive you adopt their customs into your own. You do not ban traditional customs and come up with a trite saying in the hopes of appeasing the masses. Gobbledegook

The war on Christmas is a myth, just brought on by people who want to cause trouble
ChipmunkErnie · 70-79, M
@Shutterbug True. Maybe we should take a hint from the Puritans who came to New England and banned Christmas all together.

I always just say "Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!" It's all inclusive and no one has ever gotten offended except for maybe hardcore atheists but Idc.
@DearAmbellina2113 more like "blurry christmas and sloppy new year".
ChipmunkErnie · 70-79, M
@DearAmbellina2113 Never heard of an atheist being upset by "Merry Christmas:, but I have heard quite a few self-styled Christians have a fit over hearing or seeing "Happy Holidays".
Its not insisting you be merry, its a time where we are supposed to remember to be kind to others and wish them well hense the merry.
Obviously not everybody is happy and not everybody is nice, that's not really the point.
@Anonymartyr people are assholes, its not new news but its a time to put aside, stop and appreciate life and good people.
I don't see anything sad about it, people have celebrated December the 25th for thousands of years
@ChipmunkErnie maybe you didn't read it properly
ChipmunkErnie · 70-79, M
@MushroomFaerie I see what you mean. ;)
Hearing too much references about holidays will bother people like me who have no families. I also understand that not everybody are Christians who practice Pagan holidays either. But the children and commerce both like them.
TheConstantGardener · 61-69, M
There's no sign of a ban on Xmas here. Businesses wouldn't allow it 😒
Gusman · 61-69, M
@TheConstantGardener The term "Christmas" or its religious aspects is being increasingly censored, avoided, or discouraged by a number of advertisers, retailers, governments (prominently schools), and other public and secular organizations.
This is the reality unfortunately
TheConstantGardener · 61-69, M
@Gusman As I say, I don't see any evidence for that here. I take your word for it that you may be experiencing it in your location. Maybe someone should speak with your political representatives.
Gusman · 61-69, M
@TheConstantGardener There were attempts in the UK to dampen down Chistmassy things about 10 to 15 years ago but they never really gained traction. The Catholic Church really stood up.
Why does the west even have Xmas if not for LBJs birthday..
Happy for no reason season everyone ..
Can’t wait for the purge..
Makes perfect sense. Kill Xmas but not Xmas shopping.. @Gusman .
Heathens.
What are the happy holidays ppl celebrating on the 25th?
I thought you'd gone over, like old milk. You scared me.@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout
Gusman · 61-69, M
@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout they are celebrating a holiday granted them because of Christs Birth?

I live in the least religious part of the U.S., say Merry Christmas all the time (this time of year), and have never had anyone object to it. Never heard of it being outlawed anywhere in the country. Any attempts to do so on a large scale are doomed to fail.
Rutterman · 46-50, M
@ChipmunkErnie Nope. We have to get them for ourselves long before Christmas arrives.
ChipmunkErnie · 70-79, M
@Rutterman But Santa bear is such a fun bear. LOL
Rutterman · 46-50, M
@ChipmunkErnie Hahaha. Can't argue with that. 😆
indyjoe · 56-60, M
I totally 100% agree...too often "all inclusiveness" means that something/someone gets excluded. It's like fighting sexism by being sexist or racism by being racist, it happens all the time more and more. Good post Gusman.
Gusman · 61-69, M
@indyjoe The World is a *ucked up place.
indyjoe · 56-60, M
@Gusman No arguments here...
ChipmunkErnie · 70-79, M
You mean the Puritans had it right back in the 1600s when they banned Christmas?

And I think you mean "intrinsic" you you, not to everyone.
helenS · 36-40, F
Haha, on the contrary - people from Muslim countries (immigrants) have started celebrating Christmas here! (= Europe). Because it would be difficult for parents to explain to their children why Santa doesn't like them. 😁
I swear it's the most ridiculous thing ever!!
@Gusman It's seriously pathetic if it ever ever happens. Where's the logic in all this?🤔
Gusman · 61-69, M
@Vivaci It is called pandering or yielding to accommodate so as not to upset anyone. Well, Christians are allowed to be upset so the rest do not get upset?
Goobledegook
@Gusman that's the right word!
