So Americans need to be grateful that the only way to increase their income is to work longer-than-usual hours and to rely on the generosity of customers because their basic wage isn't enough?
Gee, thanks for the crumbs from the table

@newjaninev2 income has to be reported, tips , will not have to be, a person gives you 5 bucks, just keep it, like not hard
newjaninev2 · 56-60, F
@oldguy73 read what I asked... How will IRS differentiate the two sources?

Will that nullify the 10% tariff on goods from China, Mexico and Canada?
Don’t forget the kick backs your cult leader will be getting on every deal that goes through. They will make him a VERY rich dictator.

@MyGirlPhotoswell Those corporations simply add the cost of tariffs onto the price they charge the American consumer.
If you want to avoid the price hike, you need to buy only goods made in America. Unfortunately, the price of American-made goods will also climb because the people buying the foreign goods (because not everything is made in US) want more wages to pay for the increase in prices, and the extra spending that causes leads to increased inflation leads to anyone who fell for this tariff nonsense being laughed at by the grifters who sold it to them.

@newjaninev2 Your argument is fallacious. Unless you are openly admitting you want American manufactures taxed while not taxing China manufactures. By arguing against tariffs, IE: Import Taxes, you are arguing against corporate B&O taxes.... I invite you to take a look at your cable, water, electric, sewer, or any bill and you will see where YOU pay the B&O tax for that company.
Jimmy2016 · 61-69, M
@MyGirlPhotoswell American companies importing products will pay for the increased tariff Taxes and pass the increase onto consumers of that product....Companies from China do NOT pay more in taxes.............So expect to pay more on stuff you buy after Trump takes office..........And this country imports a large amount of products from China.......

Wasn't that because overtime isn't going to be paid and tips belong to the owner?
MyGirlPhotoswell · 61-69, M
@Convivial And where did that bit of information come from. Source it, please. I'd like to read it.

I want nothing to do with Trump or his authoritarian agenda.

@RockerDad You watched people die from medical malpractice including the vaxes and the creation of the virus by Fauci and co. No one actually died from covid. That disease was treatable from the outset and many doctors knew it .

@Adrift It's likely true. I always tip in cash. I feel like the great service providers should keep there own earnings.
MyGirlPhotoswell · 61-69, M
@Adrift always tip with cash!! so the Government will keep their grubby, greedy hands off it....
Adrift · 61-69, F

I figure if I get good service that I want the person that provided it to get it.

I do think non-tax on overtime pay and tips is the correct thing to do... But let's not Go hold-wild on tax-cuts right out of the gate.
Kenworth4954 · 56-60, M
@MyGirlPhotoswell it'll be fine you'll see

Great, more debt.
ViciDraco · 36-40, M
I'm not necessarily opposed to these policies specifically. I'm more concerned that they either won't get implemented or there will be even more cuts for the wealthy included that will spiral us either deeper into deficit, trigger an austerity related recession/depression, or both.
But I'm willing to be happily surprised. For as absolutely terrible as he was in his first term, the trade deals with the rest of north America, Japan, and Korea ended up being not awful.

@ViciDraco Did tRump revamp NAFTA or did he just threaten tariffs and then back off??
BTW, I looked at our deals with Korea; they are dated 2007 & 2012. Our Japan trade deal (USJTA) was renewed Oct 2019, so I guess tRump gets some credit for that.

The USJTA covers about 5% of bilateral trade between the two countries.
Most of our trade with Japan - cars & durable goods - seems to fall under the earlier agreements that also caused Honda & Toyota to build big factories in the US.

Tariffs. I don't think so.
