calling someone Karen is the same as calling someone the n word
Karens can be from any race. Unfortunately all of the Karens I see are entitled White People who think they have the right to tell other people, mostly Black People, what they can or cannot do. Their attitude is how they get the nickname. These are people that stick their noses into other people's business. They often come across as afraid of Black People but never hesitate to stick their nose into the Black Man's face. I keep hoping they would meet the Dangerous Black Man and he would punch that smug look off of their face. Judging people because of their attitude and judging someone on skin color alone are vastly different.
@sree251 Why would anyone want to be safe in a public space right????
sree251 · 41-45, M
@Pitchblue Sick. A sick person wants to be safe in a public space.
pillowman · M
@Pitchblue who?
No, it isn’t. People are called "Karen" based on their behavior. The "n" word was and is strictly a racial epithet, regardless of anything else.

Incidentally, one feature of "Karens" is them being quick to use the "n" word when they encounter black people. YouTube has many instances of them doing just that—and getting their behinds kicked for saying it.

@bijouxbroussard only the crazy violent prone ones! With your giving them what you think they deserve way of thinking you are a potential active shooter!
@pillowman Bullsh*t. You’re a hypocrite.
Sidewinder · 36-40, M
@bijouxbroussard One fact to consider, is that stereotypes, even in this day and age don't always hold up to scrutiny.

Case in point: There do exist people named Karen, who aren't entitled at all
I'm sorry but anyone who gets offended by the term "Karen" is way too sensitive. Actually, I'm not sorry.
Slade · 56-60, M
@latinbutterfly I'm making box Chardonnay calling it "Karen"
@RedBaron Yeah, that's definitely true 😂.
Slade · 56-60, M
@latinbutterfly NOBODY are bigger Karens than the suburban box wine soccer moms. Trader Joes INVENTED Karens!

I think it is a derogatory word that has been coined on white women. It’s the same. If black people think n***** is such a bad word why do they use that or a similar word referring to white or actually any color of people. Especially when it is labeled as a hate word associated with racism. We are all created equal right? if they are allowed to use it then so is everyone else right?
@pillowman @pillowman This post says everything I need to know about you.

@Pitchblue good now that fun time is over it’s time for me to get some sleep!
@pillowman If you are Trolling us you are the best Troll I've seen on SW in a long time.

Not the same at all. The K word is more like the B word -- just another misogynist term aimed solely at women.

The N word began as a racial slur and is now extremely offensive to everyone and can be aimed at anyone, male or female, black or white.
@SW-User It’s a word I wish would go away permanently, because as long as the KKK still uses it, it lives primarily as a racial slur. Black people who play around with it trivialize something serious.

@bijouxbroussard I couldn't agree more. Plus, as I've said, I have my own personal reasons for detesting that word.
Scribbles · 36-40, F
I really wish the word would disappear too. Anytime I hear it, it's like a stab to the heart. Things are unfair now...and To hear that word and remember that if we lived in another time (not that long ago tbh) many dear friends that mean the world to me would be subjected to some of the cruelest actions of horrific abuse, violence, and slavery just because of the color of their skin is just unimaginably horrible. It's beyond nightmareish. Things like that can never be allowed to happen ever again...so we all have to make the world a better place.

There is no similarity whatsoever. But the K word is a lazy and cliched stereotype that is generally used for misogynistic and negative ends.
Rven suggesting such a thing you have no idea of the weight of the n-word.

How many ties has someone died for being a karen?
Or raped, or assaulted, or excluded from using public transport, or entry in a restaurant..... i could go on
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
There’s Karen, Daren, Sharon and Baron
Caring, Daring, Sharing and Baring.

Not if it's tastefully blended into a hard rock musical.

I sure hope not. My 8-year-olduses that term all the time. (it has more specific meaning in Roblox apparently)
Don't be ridiculous, Karen is not a racial slur

I prefer the term Qaren myself, which is a specific subgroup
pillowman · M
@BlueGreenGrey yes it is used as a racial slur towards white women. Just like the n word is termed towards black people. You might not mean it like that but others do. It’s a normal word used as a racial slur. A normal word turned racist towards black people is m****y. Which I find as offensive as the n word or the k word I am offended by all types of racial slurs. Even some of the silly sounding words used racially against white people. I’m called a racist just for the simple fact that I am proud to be white. But it wouldn’t be considered racist if I were black and said I’m proud to be black.
@pillowman you've demonstrated throughout this post that you are a clueless, idiotic white supremacist, you cannot be reasoned with
@pillowman Nobody’s trying to make you ashamed of being white. But you should be ashamed of being a racist.
Being white is fine. Being a white supremacist is not.

One is based on something you are born with and can't change. A Karen is a choice in acting a certain way.
Work in retail and food service long enough you'll hate them as well.

@Scribbles They need to work in retail and food service to see the wild Karen in action
