Tbf proper funding, better equality and opportunities for schools and students is a bigger issue.

Heck, in the UK it was bad enough but over 100 schools are being shutdown due to hazardous infrastructure and government negligence/austerity. Teachers are rarer due to shit wages and bigger workloads due to shortages of teachers and wage stagnation.

These societal blips are micro in scale in relation to the problems in modern schooling today.

I think the bigger problem is that modern course curriculums tend to be created by those lacking a useful overview (a sense of direction).

I wouldn't feel safe to focus on solving a math problem in a school where there's shootings and transphobes abusing others. So I prefer the education should be about society, that's a very obligatoric subject in Sweden at least.

Trans are not the problem with with the scholastic performances in the US public educational system.
Poor student-teacher ratios, under-funding, under-paying teachers has gotten worse yearly.
Schools have been degrading far longer than the "trans issue". It's a distraction from the root cause(s) i mentioned. The people responsible for doing this are not on the left.

The thing to do, if it were possible, is to replace the boys' room and the girls' room with a bunch of single-stall unisex restrooms (or all-gender, as they're now called). Problem solved, and they could move on to the three Rs.

In America this does prepare them for a life in America where one can only have a single issue at a time. The main courses for American school are guns, religion and LGBT+. As these are the defining characteristics of Americans and thus it does prepare one for a life in America.
It's other parts of the world that are the intellectuals. Other parts of the world emphasize knowledge and education.
America is the middle east of the west. The mid-west if you will.
