@sunsporter1649 the thing is - hes right, Australia proved it works.
And it's not about taking the guns away - it's about tighter, routine legislation and regulation of gun ownership .
Look around the world at all the coutries who have tightened their gun laws ....look at how it has reduced deaths and injuries and trauma caused by out of control gun use.
Norway, UK, Aotearoa etc;
All good examples of how working towards a better regulated gun regime, can reduce crime, deaths, fear, and increase quality of life - without having to take them away completely
I feel you are looking at this in a segmented way , and not really seeing the whole picture, the whole numbers, the whole stats....and the whole goal ....you seem stuck on partial stats, that don't reflect the whole of the US, and they just don't add up .
It's like saying if I broke a window in a school - it means I'm to blame for every broken window there - it's illogical .
I get that illegal immigrants are causing all sorts of problems over there, but America had high crime and abundant mass shootings BEFORE illegal immigrants became this recent issue and the rising influx they are currently.
This is a systemic social problem , that has been decades, if not over a century or more in the making ....it's cultural .
It is why you are having this knee jerk reaction as if someone is snatching your guns away - they aren't .
But your inherent fear, from the way society has become, makes you jump to that extreme conclusion.
And it's this very extremism which infects everything .... even what you believe.
To the point this has become your norm .
And frankly over 600 mass shootings a year - isn't normal .
If you want numbers and where to point fingers ....maybe look to your 1% that owns 30% of the wealth .
Shootings aren't an immigrant problem - it's a social problem, a broken socioecconomical cultural issue.
And if you think giving everyone guns is the solution - do you know where that leads?
- it leads to a stratocracy.
And where is your freedom then ?

Reminds me of Trump's attack on Covid testing in 2020:
“Cases, Cases, Cases! If we didn’t test so much and so successfully, we would have very few cases,” went a Trump tweet.
BTW, actual epidemiologists pay attention to a stat known as the positivity rate; not the raw number of tests; Trump's explanation for rising case numbers was, as usual, DEAD WRONG!!

@ElwoodBlues Many thousands, if not hundreds of thousands, died because he told them Covid was a hoax. That's a fact. And yet the cult, many of whom lost loved ones, STILL supports him. Can't wrap my head around it.

It's not guns. It's people. We Americans are bad people.
@wildbill83 That would be glorious to see most of Europe implode with all of their pretentious snobbery attacked, specially by Asian countries, I'm sure India and Pakistan, as well as Turkey, would have their fun.
wildbill83 · 41-45, M
@NativePortlander1970 There's some poetic irony in there somewhere for countries that spent decades fighting each other over imperialistic ideals, only to collectively destroy themselves due to their own conceit...🤔
@wildbill83 Most definitely, the Dutch and the Portugese are going to get their Karma the worst, as they were the most active colonizers and slavers for centuries.
MasterLee · 56-60, M
True. Get rid of "gun free zones" and place an affirmative defense to justify killing those who choose to try to kill our families. Shootings would grind to zero overnight.
MasterLee · 56-60, M
@OogieBoogie even a pencil can be lethal
OogieBoogie · F
@MasterLee ikr.
I learnt a few years back that at least 6 people die a year from lethal pencil accidents!
Although ....the Darwin Awards are my favorites 😏

@OogieBoogie they do help the gene pool.

daily reminder that we once had a mass-shooting where like 500 people were shot
JamesBugman · 56-60, T
@BlueVeins but it was fun right? everyone had a good time and lots of cheers after. Thank you government for making life so interesting.
wildbill83 · 41-45, M
The problem is when people try to make a distinction between mass shootings and other forms of mass murder.
and gun crimes are overwhelmingly insignificant by comparison...
a few people get shot, and media starts screeching "mass shooting" like a bunch of lunatics
half a million abortions every year & 250,000 medical malpractice deaths every year, and no one bats an eye...
@wildbill83 They're fucking demented, they have zero issues protesting a cold blooded murderer's execution, claiming cruel and unusual punishment, YET, INSISTS that an unborn child is a parasite and must be either burned to death with a saline solution, or hacked to pieces while still alive. The Universe will be dispensing special Karma on them.

Quit making the shooter a celebrity never mention his or her name
TheOneyouwerewarnedabout · 46-50, MVIP
If the feds actually got preventive instead of reactive..
everytime : known to authorities.
Been reported by friends and family..
Or the direct relationship between shooters and psychedelic medications…

@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout sadly this rings true down here too.
Too often, the perpetrator of some sort of deadly gun violence has already been known to police for Domestic Violence, or some fucked up behavior or drug use .
Over and over ....and over .

@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout Iou know the dems told the authorities to stand down on reports to investigate, that way they'll have the stories for political fodder and campaign funding.

Give everyone free guns and bullets
HumanEarth · F
Then if a mass shooting happens. People can shoot back and get the stupid motherfucker
HumanEarth · F
People don't attack people people that can defend themselves. But the government don't want people defending themselves. They want people to obey and not question government
TexChik · F
Or... 7-year minimum sentence for a gun crime where no one was seriously injured. 25 years to life if they were, no parole. Second offense: 25years in prison, no parole.
JamesBugman · 56-60, T
I think the media has long gotten past the horror of mass shootings anyways. I rarely see it in the news anymore, and these happen multiple times every day. No longer news worthy since the supreme court has deemed it OK for mentally disturbed people to own automatic weapons, and it is perfectly normal.
Its like getting your coffee in the morning now.. Oh look, another mass shooting.. wow, two in one block... I hope she remembers my extra creamer.

@JamesBugman mass shooting. What a laugh.
SinlessOnslaught · 26-30, M
Yep, just like my solution to car break-ins by always leaving the keys in the door.
Ducky · 31-35, F
If you mean emphasizing on the victims rather than the shooters, then yes, I agree. Intentionally or no, the media glorifies mass shooters every time one makes the news, having their name, their face, even their life story plastered all over the news. Might as well start making movies just about the shooters and the atrocities they commit.

Feds try to get people to commit mass shootings
JamesBugman · 56-60, T
@Rolexeo That was the previous administration, and soon to be new again. MADA.. make america dead again.

@JamesBugman bruh

In Australia, anything over 2 or 3 is called a mass shooting
We seem to average about 1 a year .
Maybe not having guns readily accessable would be a solution 🤷
*waits for the Texans to go ballistic *😏

Are you a member of Congress?
If the dems stopped using them as political fodder they'd stop.
