@AllycatAD The black market is still a market. When an item gets scarce, its price rises and more people get priced out of the market. In addition, if a weapon isn't well maintained, if it has a bit of dirt or rust, it's less reliable thus less desirable. That's why the graph shows homicide reduction lagging the strict gun laws by a few years.

And yes we have them, both illegals and laws .
But we try hard to integrate them as quick as we can . It's still not that great a system, but we get so many.

Drug abuse is high on the causal list too.
Mental illness is also a massive contributor as well....nearly 60 million in the us from memory .

Please get back to topic . Im not talking about illegal immigrants any more - there are higher causal factors than that to the mass shooting problem .

Metal health is such a huge problem, so is domestic violence ...prolly partially related as well.
The medical system is failing terribly over there, I'm not convinced they are gonna work on it - it'd just cost too much and need so much more manpower to do it .

Even here, too many fall under the radar of mental help, and we have a lot smaller population.

@sunsporter1649 id always thought that government positions should be filled with professionals in their field - economists, social workers, engineers ...the list goes on .

I feel when an institution is a certain way for so long, and is limited in supply for so long - it can become distorted and abstracted away from its ideals .
Fresh blood might be a solution 🤔
