@Heartlander It's a FACT. https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/we-dont-want-him-here-trump-to-face-protests-and-skepticism-as-he-visits-el-paso-and-dayton-after-mass-shootings/2019/08/06/55c9b306-b879-11e9-a091-6a96e67d9cce_story.html?noredirect=on
What positive could possibly have come out of it for anyone but Trump or his adoring fans.
The odds of him consoling anyone or helping in any way would be pretty slim even if he tried, and he's doing less and less with that ruse with each episode.
Weigh that against the traffic and the cost to the community, and I think even some Trump fans might see, as I think someone said, that Trump going down to El Paso was a lose/lose thing, both for him, and for everyone.
@windinhishair You mean Barry Big Ears took over the census in 2010 to make it more fair and equitable! Well I'll be darned, whouda thunk that he was so unpolitical
@Heartlander As much as I'd like that, and as much as I agree with you that it's important, I don't think Trump's visit did or could really promote such an opportunity.
Seems like everyone expected he was there to be treated like a "rock star" or at least a reality tv/star, and he didn't disappoint.
I'll give you that there were efforts on all sides to dress things up with the trappings of normalcy, but he screwed that up pretty quickly shortly after he left.

Doesn't matter he's the President he can go where he wants.
@windinhishair No, it would not lessen the pain...this horror seems to be coming closer and closer to our individual lives...closing in on us...he HAS TO GO...where are the assassins when you need them?
@nudistsueaz It may be. it was the day or the day after he took office. As the World Series Winners, the team was entitled to come down and meet the just-elected President. They did. They chatted for a few minutes, then extended their hands as a "good-by" gesture. I saw him slide by the blacks and Dominicans and ignore their hands but shake the white players' hands. It was so slick, you could miss it if you weren't watching closely, but I saw it - another way to dishonor Chicago. Check with your local TV station and ask if you can get a clip of the then-new President meeting the World Series' champs.
That they don't want him there seems to be the reason.

Because a white supremacist killed 20 people using Trump’s same rhetoric on immigration to justify his reason for doing so. I don’t blame the families of victims that don’t want Trump to visit El Paso. Sooner or later his invasion at the southern border message would get people killed.
@sunsporter1649 You might as well just say you support what the el paso gunman did, because that seems like what you’re saying in your replies. You obviously don’t care about what happened and go with, “well if the border was secured”.... it was already secured. Illegal immigration has been on a decline way before Trump got into office. it really wasn’t a problem until Trump made it into a problem that led up to an American committing domestic terrorism.
@canusernamebemyusername Of course not, an orderly procession of visitors and legal immigrants, all neatly supplied with proper documentation, nothing to see here, move along
Well, because he's a victim and he's suffered enough. Poor, poor Baby-trump. He gets blamed for everything and never gets credit for anything. Oh me... oh my... poor, poor Baby-trump (and his "base.")
