Why Trump is not welcome in El Paso, Texas, following the mass shooting that occurred on Saturday?

What positive could possibly have come out of it for anyone but Trump or his adoring fans.

The odds of him consoling anyone or helping in any way would be pretty slim even if he tried, and he's doing less and less with that ruse with each episode.

Weigh that against the traffic and the cost to the community, and I think even some Trump fans might see, as I think someone said, that Trump going down to El Paso was a lose/lose thing, both for him, and for everyone.

@MistyCee They should have arrested him for not paying the $567,000 he owes El Paso for the campaign rally he had earlier. He still hasn't paid for that, and probably won't, because he's a deadbeat. They incurred more yesterday for a presidential visit no one wanted.
@windinhishair I never in my wildest dreams thought Texas might actually turn blue again, but if anyone could do it, it might be Trump.

@MistyCee It is inevitable that Texas will turn blue. There are more registered Democrats in Texas right now than there are Republicans. Republicans have historically had a higher voter turnout. If voter suppression efforts and gerrymandering can be stopped, Texas may turn blue sooner than anyone realizes.

@MistyCee

I would think it would be a an opportunity for all to behave like we are all Americans, regardless of party or philosophies.

It's unfortunate that some don't think that's important.

@windinhishair LOL, voter suppression! And of course, no goddamndemocrat would ever jerrymander any congressional district, now would they
windinhishair · 61-69, M
@sunsporter1649 Both parties gerrymander, but the Republicans have done it to a greater extent since 2000. It now takes about 54% of the vote nationwide for Democrats to have an equal number of congressional seats. They won the House because they took about 56% of the vote in 2018.

Gerrymandering is wrong no matter which party does it. California is the biggest Democratic state where it occurs. Congressional districts should be decided by bipartisan commissions every ten years, not the party controlling the state government. We'd end up with more Republicans in California, and more Democrats in the southern states, and that would be a good thing all the way around.
@windinhishair I'm just hoping it happens in 2020, before its too late.

@MistyCee Me too. Fingers crossed.

@windinhishair You mean Barry Big Ears took over the census in 2010 to make it more fair and equitable! Well I'll be darned, whouda thunk that he was so unpolitical
windinhishair · 61-69, M
@sunsporter1649 Gerrymandering is done by the states, not the federal government. Get your facts straight.
@Heartlander As much as I'd like that, and as much as I agree with you that it's important, I don't think Trump's visit did or could really promote such an opportunity.

Seems like everyone expected he was there to be treated like a "rock star" or at least a reality tv/star, and he didn't disappoint.

I'll give you that there were efforts on all sides to dress things up with the trappings of normalcy, but he screwed that up pretty quickly shortly after he left.
