I Believe In Age Of Consent Reform

I personally can’t stand the thought of someone else telling me when I can and can’t be sexually active and with whom.. I don’t give a rats ass if you think it’s wrong and disgusting.. it’s my body.. how about I tell you what you can and can’t eat smoke and drink? Until then fuck you and stay out of my life..
But I do know there needs to be some rules.
The problem is how to allow sexual freedom to those like me and to protect those who don’t.....

Here is how I would approach it as law, because we still want to protect the innocent from predators.....

No prosecution of individuals within 10 years age difference if both parties are consenting.


No photos/videos of boys/girls under 12.. period.
After this, it’s the responsibility of parents to have taught their child modesty morality and how to respect her body, and respect her parents wishes.. don’t worry about other kids, that’s someone else’s problem, you worry about teaching your kids your morality YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE!!!!

The older individual must show a reasonable intent to pursue a lasting relationship towards marriage.
this includes providing a adequate stabilizing environment to care protect, love and provide mental and psychological support. Failure to do so the individual will be charged as a child predator, this includes anyone like pimps, who will try to exploit the child. Or one night stands....this will prevent those who only want sex with a child not a relationship.. providing they are over 10 years older..

While the parents are not required to be informed, the individual and child must be in regular contact with a councilor within 1 week of contact, who will monitor the relationship to make sure the child is in good health and consenting throughout...if the councilor decides the relationship is not or no longer healthy, the individual is warned to end the relationship, if they do not, they are charged as a child predator...
If the relationship is not reported to a councilor, it is not a legal relationship and they will be prosecuted as a child predator.



Once married, the individual cannot divorce the child for any reason until she’s 21. Until then they must provide all health care and support for her and any children.. failure to do so, they will be prosecuted for failure to provide support .

All divorce laws apply to wealth and property..

a person needs to have lived a certain amount of time before they can make judgments on what is best for themselves, and the maturation of their own bodies should be a guide, when the body is not matured can the brain be? The danger is pervs being given a free reign with those who may say yes before they understand what yes may lead to.

I think with younger people and consent, it's not so much about people their own age having sex with each other but it's about someone young being taken advantage of by someone much older and getting away with it because it's legal.

Traditionally girls were always married off when they were young and healthy for child bearing...

I think the basic tensions are between the age at which hormones turn on v. when you can make good decisions.

It is now known that your frontal cortex doesn't complete it development until humans are around _24_...! This is important for making good decisions, and, with an admixture of new & unfamiliar hormones (& esp. the huge spike which teen boys get), it leads to dumb dumb dumb decisions...

But we generally have ages of consent at 16...though you can't form a contract until age 18, and drink until 21.

So you can choose to whom you give access to your body about 8 yrs before the seat of your decision-making is really ready for business....

This leads to 14 yr olds taking sexy selfies and sending them to a similarly-aged friend/romantic interest and--uh oh!--being charged with making, owning, and distributing kiddie porn.

At 16, you can generally choose your sex partner, but not appear in anything remotely porn-like. Or even sign a modeling contract.

Go figure.

But I think it's wrong that people around the same age can be charged for statatory rape if one persons 16 and ones 15.

Being charged as a sex offender and sent to prison for liking a person is just reckless and cruel.

The age of consent? Interesting. But where other than "consensual" sexual relations, does it end? Vote at 12? Vote at 13? The values that we have are IMO eroding drastically. With respect to youngsters (male & female) it's my belief such laws, edicts, allowances are detrimental to the youth of these nations.

I think that's a very mature opinion. And I agree that it should be debated. Looking at the likes of teenage pregnancies in other countries. Perhaps only protected sex could be allowed at a younger age

I agree to some extent but don't base it on what you read about the age of consent in differing countries on the internet. The 12 year old limit you mentioned in Japan for example is far from being "the norm" and only applies within a very small and very specific set of circumstances.

There are people doing 20 years or more of time that want the change.
American society has opposition to it.

In many countries girls of that age have been getting married and having children for many years

Perhaps 13 to marry and 16 for everything else, with strict rules that marriage cannot be forced

I'm against fornication for all ages, but by 16 a woman surely knows if she wants to have sex with a man or not, and they're going to do it whether it's legal or not; making it illegal only gets someone in trouble for what's already going to be happening

How would you feel looking back upon your life at 12 and know you would be married and having sex with an older man? Think of being 13 or 14 or 15. Still think it is okay. Children should not be having sec let alone being forced to marry older people. When you are older, perhaps you will revisit this topic. Older and hopefully wiser. Or better yet, have your child marry as a pre-pubescent or early teen. Think with your brain.

Do you know that rule of thumb formula for age gap, "not younger than half your age plus seven"?
Applying that results in a lower bound of 14, who shouldn't be with anyone older, which seems quite plausible.
I don't agree with no-exception hard age rules above that, I think the individual case should be seen.

Age of majority is mostly an industrial issue. Somewhere along the line though people tried to make it a sexual and consent issue.
