I suspect it's always the same guys pasting their standard messages to newbies. They must have e-mail alerts or something. Avoid, avoid, avoid.

If all they say is "Hi!", or even worse that aggressive "Hey!", then probably best ignore them.

I receive such greetings and if they do seem to want more I will look at their Profile Fora to determine what we might have in common - often, very little. Then ask what in particular what made them choose me.

I think most are innocent but lonely and desperate for some form of on-line friendship they find hard to make.

Depends on what the messages consist of, in my opinion. If they're trying to make a new friend I'd say it's ok, but if they're trying to get in your pants and you're not down for that, then yeah ignore THOSE people.

I don't think new users get the privilege to pm as soon as they join. And there is no point in you being here if you are to keep ignoring pm. This is a site where you judge people by the way they converse.

This is a smaller site that the major league social media companies. So, we're like family even if we've just e-met.

That said, I would just ignore them if not block them.
