i think only old people over 30 care for their facebook accounts
@RedFlower i presumed it would be people a lot younger

I got away from that place long ago. Cant stand the drama.
@checkoutanytime indeed so much crap on there
twiigss · M
Facebook says First Name and Last Name, but I know people who use their dogs name lol. So I came up with a name because I'm not putting myself out there like that. Plus, I just wanted to play some of the games. But otherwise, facebook could die tomorrow and it wouldn't hurt me any. I don't use it for anything anyway.

The main site I use is here, because it's the replacement for Yahoo Answers!

@twiigss it can be tricky choosing a name as Facebook can ask for I.D sometimes and everyone is so trackable lol, I loved Yahoo answers

Facebook has reached its total potential growth, and it's going to be downhill from this point on. New potential users, are going to other platforms, like TikTok, etc.

If the company does not manage to make Meta the new dominant platform, and it doesn't like they will, Facebook will continue shrinking, and turn into another MySpace.

The writing was on the wall, and they should have realized it before they went on a hiring spree, during the pandemic, and now they're laying people off.
@Northwest agreed and i hope someone makes something better soon although this site is a good alternative for me

@TheUnderdog I don't think there's a "better" version of Facebook. It's about TikTok, Pintrest, Instagram, etc.
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
When they asked me to prove my identity, the second time in 2016, that was the last time I was on there.

Twice is enough. I've refused to use the site ever since then.

I refuse to give any social media site my real name. They absolutely don't need it. It's only used to track you throughout the internet.
@DeWayfarer indeed i had that once and hated it, I don't want them to have copies of my I.D
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@TheUnderdog it's not just your ID though. They'll accept any utility bill which also has your name and street address.

They want to know your exact location on top your name for demographics. The more active you are the more they can push certain types of advertising. And why you can't get rid of all advertising. That's their profit.

They don't need to sell your information which is why they allow you to turn that off.
Jonjdw · 46-50, M
I don’t think you have to use your real name on Facebook. I do a lot more here than I do on Facebook. Haven’t posted in years on Facebook.

Mostly just friends family coworkers in face book. But I will keep it for a casual way of keeping in touch with people. Buying stuff off of Facebook marketplace. And I still play candy crush.
@Jonjdw it is easy to keep in touch with people but i just don't like it lol so am going to try and make myself not re open my account
Andromedanian · 22-25, M
Same, I used it to buy stuff and the like, never post don't have any friends but the ones begging for me to add them and stuff like that, it sucks now tbh. Don't know how people were so much into it, including me. nothing interesting anymore
@Andromedanian it's handy for buying and sell apart from people not turning up or expecting the item for half price etc, I had to lock my profile as i would wake up to loads 9f friend requests from strangers lol
Bri89 · 31-35, M
I don't hate it, I just have gotten bored with it over the last few years. When I first started there were games and things that kept one's interest. Now it's bland, boring, and there is nothing there worthwhile.
@Bri89 it just full of constant posts or rubbish
DearAmbellina2113 · 41-45, F
I hate FB but I keep it because I have a couple of friends and family members who I would completely lose touch with if I deleted FB.
cycleman · 61-69, M
I have found it to be very educating for myself with epilepsy and talking with others with it as well.
@cycleman it is handy for that but not enough for me
caPnAhab · 26-30, M
I haven't used facebook since 2017. Probably about time I finally deleted my profile
@caPnAhab don't blame you
btchstfu · F

I think i got on Facebook and cancelled my account within one week.
@exexec lol that's quick
I got off Facebook mid 2019. I didn’t want to continue any further.
@DreamyCrush fair enough

@MalteseFalconPunch I would not recommend it lol, your not missing out

Cancelled mine a couple of years ago. No regrets.
I lasted about 3 months back in 2010
@Ozymandiaz I have had a few accounts on and off but need to be more strict with myself and not re open it
smileylovesgaming · 31-35, F
I gave up on Facebook year's ago
@smileylovesgaming your not missing out
Henal · 26-30, F
I haven't used it in years.
@Henal I don't want to anymore
Confined · 56-60, M
Dumped my Fakebook in 2020
@Confined nice
I got tired of their self serving ads and groups showing up on my feed. My account got hacked twice sending messages to my friends that I was dying. I deleted my account after I went into a bakery and on my way out the clerk said "don't forget to like us on Facebook."
ViciDraco · 36-40, M
I don't check Facebook feeds anymore, but I still have an account for the messenger. There are some family and friends where its a good way to stay reachable through changing phone numbers and/or addresses. But the feeds are just toxic or pointless these days.
I had a Facebook page for about two months in 2007. And all kinds of people who had nothing to say to me in person on the job were sending friend requests. When a stalker from college found me, I knew it was time to get rid of it.
Never looked back.
@bijouxbroussard I hate that, when someone you don't even know that well or don't even like sends a friend request, delete lol
DDonde · 31-35, M
I deleted it, then made a new one years later for messenger with my family
pianoplayingsteve · 31-35, M
I deleted mine. Got sick of my leftist friends posting social justice crap that totally twisted the context, left out key bits of info etc, to get likes and prove to themselves how good a person they are without actually doing anything

@Fable WhatsApp is probably a better option for that
