I always thought/was made to think that I was a quitter. I took tap/ballet as a kid because I wanted the trophy. Got the trophy after a year...quit.

Wanted to play Für Elise on the piano. Played four years, aced Für Elise...quit.

Outside hitter in varsity volleyball..went to state, got a badass B. Gay letter jacket out of the deal...quit.

Went to junior college for journalism before reading up on the unaliving rates for newspaper journalists, was going to parlay my basics credits to a 4 year school...quit, deciding to work my way up in whatever job I got. Did that. House paid off 70% in 5 years off a call center salary, no student debt.

Camp Gladiator: woke up before 5am to get there by 6..worked out till 7am..slept a few hours..worked till 1am..only 300+ lb person out there...quit after 7 months, still lost 92 lbs my way.

Idk man, I just don't see myself as a quitter anymore. Just bc my sister has a PhD in nursing, climbs waterfalls in Costa Rica for fun, runs marathons, became a tenured professor at 34...brother is a petroleum engineer with a beautiful family, etc...

...Does NOT mean that I didn't achieve EXACTLY what I had my eyes set on. I am reframing that view of myself now.

@MrNightSky Thank you for this! i think this is a bigger conversation that more people need to have..that it is not a CHARACTER flaw to be a scanner, to DO WHAT YOU WANT TO DO, and that the blackest of sheep often become the G.O.A.T.

What is next?
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@foldedunfolding my sister and I were always in competition.
foldedunfolding · 41-45, F
@samueltyler2 If you imply I am in competition with my sister, and that I will likely not succeed due to their level of education, you are wrong..on 3 counts, the third being that it is wrong of you to discount and contrast me....
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@foldedunfolding that isn't what I said or implied. I simply meant that if you did have any competitive ness it would be difficult. I also didn't intend to say that you couldn't succeed, you already defined how you could.
