Homes? I grew up in the same house for 18 years but I never thought of it as a home and I
got out of there as soon as I could. Most of the apartments I've had weren't homes. I had a very nice one for 5 years and now this one for 17 years. I just signed a new lease so a year from now, if I'm still alive and Trump hasn't destroyed what little is left of the economy, I will have lived here as long as in the house where I grew up.

As a kid with no control over the situation, 10 in 18 years. As an adult, 7 in the following 36 years, which includes multiple dorm moves in college. I’ve owned 3 houses over the course of the last 31 years. We were in our “starter” home for 4 years. The next house we were in for 25 years. I’ve been in the current house (our downsized retirement house) for 3 years. I don’t like to move and realize that my chaotic childhood probably had something to do with that.

@BamPow yeah i don't like moving either. i've been at my current place for exactly one year (renting) hope i don't have to move anytime soon
BamPow · 51-55, M
@beermeplease The one thing (and only thing) I will say positive about moving is that it keeps you nimble. When we sold our home of 25 years, the process of going through things we’d accumulated over that time was overwhelming, and we’re far from hoarders. Selling was the easy part compared to whittling down to what we wanted to move versus donate or scrap.

12 for me. In two different Australian states. First one until age 29 then moved approx every 2 and a bit years since. Hopefully now I own my house since 2 yrs ago any future moves are when I want to not when I need to.

I'm living in the house I grew up in now. I've rented at two places, built and sold a house, and lived in a van and traveled the country.

@beermeplease That happens when someone has a permanent warning on their account.
