why are obese people called healthy ?

They are anything but healthy 🤔??
WanderlustCat · 36-40, M
You can be abit overweight and still be in general good health. But by the time you start using the term obese your well past that point.
Boredone · 18-21, F
@WanderlustCat um no. it’s literally called “overweight” meaning you’re over the healthy normal weight within your body’s capacity. Saying “a bit” doesn’t mean it’s any less healthy, it’s still in fact unhealthy. You can’t be unhealthy and healthy at the same time it makes absolutely no sense.
When people say fat shaming is wrong, they usually aren't talking about accepting purposeful weight gain or people refusing to even try to lose weight. But obesity is not always the result of a bad diet or lack of exercise. Often it's caused by other medical issues making weight loss near impossible, and focusing on that before treating anything else causes a catch 22. People don't ask to start seeing obesity as a good thing, but to not judge it without knowing the circumstances.

This explains the dangers and hypocrisy pretty well:

They are not. I've always defined the word "obese" as "overweight to the point of being unhealthy". Most people round here say that.
Mordechai · 31-35, M
I don't think they're called that ever 😬
Flenflyys · 31-35, F
Who’s calling them healthy?
Willomk1 · 46-50, M
So firstly how do you define if someone is obese or overweight, these days there is an abundance of equipment that can measure the percentage body fat but mostly we use BMI .this can be problematic as the man who came up with this was an astronomer some 200+ years ago and most science had moved on from there.
It is possible to be overweight or obese and have no other health problems just as you can slim with health problems. Especially if the person is young.
However as you age the extra wear and tear of carting too much weight will begin to show and health conditions can mount up thick and fast.
At very high weights a person can go down very quickly in the dangerous age of late 30s to 50s this is where the most super obese tend to be lost
JimboSaturn · 51-55, M
I have never heard anyone calling an obese person healthy.
Nitedoc · 51-55, M
Who's calling them healthy?
Fatalice · 41-45, F
I’m very large but in no way healthy I have a huge number of conditions.
In fact I’m in hospital again but I can’t stop my poor eating habits
Thevy29 · 41-45, M
Their Doctors gave them a clear bill of health.
TrashCat · M
@Thevy29 Impossible.
If the Dr noted their obesity, it isn't a clear bill of health
Thevy29 · 41-45, M
@TrashCat You a doctor?
TrashCat · M
@Thevy29 You dont have to be a dr to know obesity is life threatening. You a fatty?
Drs arnt allowed to call them fat or unhealthy.. because their feelings are more important than clogged arteries
DiegoWolfe · 36-40
why are people you can write out thoughts called intelligent, because they are anything but!
Boredone · 18-21, F
😂 idk how delusional one can be to label themselves that, but it’s obvious a state of in denial.
Fluffybull · F
I don't know anyone who calls obese people "healthy".
smiler2012 · 56-60

Never heard that
lumberjackslam · 41-45, M
I guess it depends on the context. If there's a famine, for example.
Hanginginthere · 31-35, M
Since when are they being called healthy?
Hanginginthere · 31-35, M
@Spacesbetweenus were they drunk or?
@Hanginginthere i dunno lol ,it seemed like that though hahaha
MsStorm · 26-30, F
@Hanginginthere It's crazy people saying that, don't mind them lol

@JPWhoo What's the incentive then?
JPWhoo · 36-40, MVIP
@TrashCat One’s health, feeling better, looking better. You think people are happy and proud to be obese even without others actively shaming them?
TrashCat · M
@JPWhoo Did I shame them here? I'm spitting facts.
