You can get flu like symptoms since the shot introduces the body to different strains of the flu in order to prepare the immune system to fight it off the next time it comes into contact with it, but I believe it’s pretty rare to actually get the flu after getting the flu shot. Still possible, but rare.
@Effloresce
Yes. It's my understanding that it can provoke an immune response but can;t actually give you the flu

@Pikachu If your immune system is compromised enough, like how someone I know who had gotten chemotherapy a couple times for cancer is~ It might be possible; I can ask her next time she's online.
But essentially yeah it's incredibly unlikely if even possible to get the flu from it otherwise; it's a very controlled batch.

I think it's mostly people who don't know how the immune system works; which I honestly can't blame them since that is some bizarre complex nonsense.
Although at the same time I can blame them since they could learn the basics at least.
Essentially there's an incredibly large number of different type of flues you can get, as well as other sicknesses; and the flu shot has only a specific list that it will teach your immune system to guard against based on what flu viruses are probably circulating.
So they likely just think it's a magical cure all, and when they see someone get sick they think it doesn't do anything; personally my flu shot protected me from getting the flu that was going around here.

According to my doc, some people feel bad the next day or two, but it's not actually the flu. Some people will get the flu because the shot is not 100% effective.

All i have is my two years of flu shots and sickness
To put this in perspective, I've had the flu a couple of times. Nothing major. Few days downtime and done.
Each year i had the flu shot i had multiple bad cases of the flu and one connected case of pneumonia. I stopped after that and went back to being normal with a once every other year flu strain.
Now this is my case. It's been different for others i know, who absolutely swear by it.
To each their own. My case may just be a suceptability to the way they prep the vaccines. I firmly believe in vaccination. It's just this one case that screws with me biology

Para flu, it's a real thing.

I think this probably comes from memes. I see shit like this all the time on social media.
That said, I personally have a hard time with some of these things. Last time I got a flu shot I got really sick.
I'm not going to say I got the "flu". I get sick from allergy shots at times. But I get sick.
I could be floppy headed and say "look I got the flu!".

The flu vaccine takes several weeks to metabolize in your body, you can still get the flu during this time

you're not going to bring rationality into an argument are you?

@Pikachu the glass is neither half full or half empty - the bastard illuminati stole all the liquid and are charging twice the price to the government

I've heard several people say they got the flu right after they got the flu shot.
