Why do people say stuff like "everyone i know who gets the flu shot got the flu" ?

Can someone explain to me the notion that it is not only possible but probable that the flu shot will make you sick?

Because i can find nothing online that even agrees that you can even get the flu in this way.

The flu vaccine takes several weeks to metabolize in your body, you can still get the flu during this time

Yup. But i don't think this is sufficient to explain why people would be convinced that the flu shot is likely to give you the flu
