Does growing old worry you?

I've a fair way to go yet, but I think we just have to accept the inevitable process of aging.
Facial wrinkles becoming more pronounced, the dreaded turkey neck syndrome, vision declining and hearing not what it once was.
These things may not be easy to deal with, especially heading down the slippery slope toward becoming feeble, forgetful and more vulnerable, but I have an inkling that some of the best years of my life lie before me. I don't have a long bucket list of things to do, but I have books to read, places to explore, mysteries to unearth, friends and family to love, and kids to shepherd into adulthood.
So whatever tricky terrain comes in the future, our inner strength can help us deal with it.
It's inside all of us somewhere.

I have done a lot with my life and more to do at 40 so I think I will gracefully accept ageing and make the best of it. My parents never got old, so I hope I do so I can be there for my son as long as possible.

Well I am getting there, so... but no it doesn't worry me, but all those changes can defo affect us. It's easy to say what sounds good, but living it is not as sweet.

No one warns us how much our bodies start deteriorating, things definitely don’t work like they used to. Menopause is fun.
It does seem kinda socially unacceptable to age doesn’t it. Always ads for creams, gagets and procedures to not look our age. Too much pressure!

Radiohead have a song, possibly about ageing, called 'Bones', (though some think it's about depression). It has a lyric saying, "I used to fly like Peter Pan." Thom Yorke screams the line out in anguish. It gives me the chills 😬

I don’t dwell on it. But the system irks the hell out of me. They assume when you get a certain age like 65 you’re suddenly old now and start treating you that way. I would get the most patronizing phone calls from my Medicare insurance companies with the speaker talking to me in an overly-patronizing voice like I was starting to become senile and frail. Then by mail, e-mail, pop-up ads, etc. you start getting offers for hearing aids, mail-order pharmacies, medical studies, funeral insurance, medical equipment. And a lot of scam calls trying to get your information to sell to someone and also drain your bank accounts. Every doctor visit they will ask if you are depressed, feel like hurting yourself, have fallen in the past few months, etc. Nobody gave a crap when I would fall outside while doing chores etc when I was younger. Now they act like you got dementia or something.

It doesn’t worry me I have arrived! I am 67 and people assume I’m in my 40s.

@TheShanachie Relatable.

I gotta be honest growing old worries me sometimes. Mostly cause I feel like I haven't accomplished anything in life. When it comes to looks I kind of accepted lt. I wanna age gracefully but I'm struggling with the kind if mindset I have.

Can't wait. Retiring will be the best part of my life. My grandparents had a great time and so will I, God willing.
Fairydust · F
No, many don’t get the chance.

Too late for me to be thinking about that. Had you mentioned this sooner....... 😚
ScarletWitch · 31-35, F
Not as much. To age is a blessing.
DeluxedEdition · 26-30, F
No, it's a blessing that we have the ability to grow older. :)
Less about how I look, more about how my health may deteriorate and what will ultimately take me out. I just hope I can hold onto my senses for as long as possible. 🥺
That doesn’t happen too everyone
Convivial · 26-30, F

@Thevy29 Oh good grief .. is that Alice Cooper's mother??
Thevy29 · 41-45, M
@smallstone my brother played this trick on me when we were kids… And when I pulled a double shift, I had a Power Nap during my meal break and woke up to a Harry Potter lightning bolt scar and glasses. My coworker drew it on with permanent marker.
