at what age did you or should one stop going to night clubs?

i think i was around 30. but then again where i'm from they kind of all went out of business as the years went by. not sure why. maybe demographics. we don't even have one here anymore, and i think there's only a couple downtown in the big city. stripper bars were big business but seemed to shut down in the early 2000s when the smoking ban came into place.

When the doorman said it's not seniors night dear.
nedkelly · 61-69, M
@FreeSpirit1 No comment 😁
@FreeSpirit1 i hear ya... so when is seniors night? lemme know 😊
Night clubs are either ones thing or not, irrelevant to their age …

It was never my thing …
jeancolby · 31-35, F
@Soossie Very true, I have other clubs to go to. Not based on getting drunk or stoned.
@jeancolby

I wa not being judgmental by saying that …. That’s good that you enjoy being a member of your favorite clubs …
jeancolby · 31-35, F
@Soossie I know, I didn't take it that way. Nothing wrong with night clubs, just not my thing either.
RubySoo · 56-60, F
Its a while sine ive been to a club....but i hope its something i'll do again!

I dont see why age should stop you!
ive been to like 4.. they suck. too loud
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout yeah the noise and flashing lights is not for me. Am tone deaf anyway and can’t have a conversation in that atmosphere. I preferred a quiet bar to be able and sit and talk with friends before I stopped drinking
ArtieKat · M
I used to manage nightclubs in my 20s and 30s. I'm 70 now and although I haven't been out clubbing for a while I wouldn't say that I'll never go again.
meggie · F
@ArtieKat it's a nice feeling sometimes to be a bit enebriated and your song comes on and you hit the dance floor. Otherwise, when ever would you dance?
ArtieKat · M
@meggie I wouldn't be dancing. Just sitting in the VIP bar drinking cocktails lol
meggie · F
@ArtieKat I reckon after a couple of cocktails you'd be up there
calicuz · 51-55, M
I'd say by 45 one showd be done with the night club seen, but that also depends on how young one looks. All of us Grey haired old guys got no business in "da clubs." 😎
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
I went a couple times with a friend who wanted to go when I was 19 and stopped because the noise was crazy. I don’t like loud music or flashing lights
Luckylu · 61-69, F
It has been a long time since I went but that is because I moved to a place where there aren’t many or any. There are a couple bars here but I haven’t seen any dance floors or live music or DJs. I would go if there were some with dance floors and music as I love to dance and I miss it a lot.
Luckylu · 61-69, F
@beermeplease When I lived in Oklahoma there were lots of country western dance halls, and a few others that were rock and roll. They occasionally had live music but always had DJs when they didn’t. If no one asked me to dance I could always count on be able to get out there on the line dancing.
@Luckylu may i have this dance? 🤔 🕺💃
Luckylu · 61-69, F
@beermeplease I would love to dance with you.
I've never been to one. Never had an interest.
Lilnonames · F
@PhoenixPhail it's dangerous

I last went with mostly a younger crowd than me a couple of years back. It was surprising how many older people were there enjoying themselves. More than 50% of the UK nightclubs have closed due to lockdown, increased prices and people drinking before they go as nightclub drinks are very expensive. I'd probably go again for a bit of fun but it'd be every couple of years.
When I was 25 there were lots of people in their 40s in clubs but I guess it depends on the type of city or club. A university city where I’m from in Oxford UK will have very young adults. When I moved to a non University town there were people of every age up till 50s. I last went to a nightclub at the age of 29 because I got so drunk I passed out.

I say by 33 you should be about. Certain clubs draw in "older" crowds of people in their late 20's early 30's but by 30 you shouldn't be in a club full of college kids blasting music from people who would barely write when you graduated high school
smiler2012 · 56-60
@beermeplease never interested me
2ndtimeguy · 61-69, M
Think when a woman is called grandma might be time to quit clubbing!
Luckylu · 61-69, F
@2ndtimeguy Nope, not even then. I think anyone should be able to go no matter how old they get.
RedBaron · M
@Luckylu They actually can. There’s no law against it.
antonioioio · 70-79, M
@Luckylu I agree with that
Some people think
Their should be one rule men and another for women
gurlwatcher22 · 61-69, M
I stopped going to clubs in the early 80s. The 'special people' were making a lot of us uncomfortable.I did go out once or twice in the late '80s, but the 'cool' element was gone.It was no longer fun;just an expensive turkey trap. I was a fixture at one of the local bars until my mid 40s.The neighborhood was turning to trash and a lot of my buddies were getting robbed and jumped.At that point,I left them all alone.I had a great run though.Seventies' discos were the best!
RedBaron · M
There’s no “should” about it.

Nobody needs to prescribe for others.
@RedBaron true... but i prescribed for myself as if i were to go i'd stick out like a sore thumb.
nedkelly · 61-69, M
Never went to any nightclubs, as I was never interested
darkmere1983 · 46-50, M
in the mid 90s, night club scene died after that era.
@darkmere1983 yep...same
badminton · 61-69, MVIP
Covid caused strip clubs to shut down.
@badminton they were shutting down long before that over here. it's a shame because we had some really good ones
PoeticPlay · 51-55, M
HA!

Try and stop me.

Dusty101 · F
I still go. Yeah, every 6 months or so on a night away with my bestie! Not my thing around my local area!
FreeSpirit1 · 51-55, F
@Dusty101 it's ok to let your hair down 😉
ninalanyon · 61-69, T
Why should there be an age limit?
@ninalanyon because when i was in my 20s i went to night clubs mainly to pick women up to get laid. i'm in my 50s now and 50 something y/o women don't go anymore and what 20 something y/o wants a 50 y/o?
ninalanyon · 61-69, T
@beermeplease Night clubs must be different now or perhaps just where you are. I remember my mother going clubbing when she was in her forties. Mind you she wasn't looking to pick anyone up. I'm pretty sure my mother in law went with her boyfriend when she was at least that age.
@ninalanyon i guess they are different here. if i am downtown on a saturday night and walk by one of the night clubs and see who is in the lineup all i see are 20 something y/o...maybe early 30s. i can cut the testosterone levels in the air with a knife...then again that's how it was when i was younger too. cover charge was 5 bucks but most women got in free. but i got smart a few times and outsmarted the meathead bouncers...i would jump the cue and tell the doorman i was just here to pick up my drunk brother or friend before they hurt themselves or cause a problem 🤣
JimboSaturn · 51-55, M
I remember I was 25 and I heard some girl say "eww old guys!" lol
JimboSaturn · 51-55, M
I always preferred pubs and bars people sit and drink.
The last time I went to a club, I was 40. I was still getting asked to dance, which was cool. But I knew it was no longer my idea of fun.
Lilnonames · F
I went one time and fell backwards down steps knocking three people over and hitting my eye against the bar corner and getting black eye. I never go again. Just to eat now with boss and his wife
@Lilnonames yeah...i've had my episodes at bars when i was younger..kinda glad them days are over. cooking with my cat as she weaves in and out of my legs and onto the counter is a party for me these days
