I immediately found a new doctor.

Yes…
Prescribed very powerful seizure medication for my cluster headaches

Yes. I was having severe stomach pains, and the Doctor referred me to a surgeon to have my gall bladder removed. And it WAS removed. Turned out that I STILL had severe stomach pains afterward...and I had H Pylori.

When confronted, the doctor told me that SURGEON said it would have had to be done eventually ANYWAY.

Yes. I went to him for what I was pretty sure a strep throat, and he confirmed it was and prescribed penicillin for it. I began breaking out in a rash, discontinued the penicillin figuring I was allergic to it, returned to the doctor who threw a tizzy. Said by discontinuing the penicillin, the infection had grown into Scarlet Fever and doubled down on the penicillin.

Scared the heck out of me because Scarlet Fever is what had led to Rheumatic Fever which led to my being bedridden for 4 years as a kid. I got a second opinion. Second doctor took one look and said, "classic case of allergic reaction to penicillin" and prescribed a different antibiotic which cleared everything up.

Yes. Diagnosed me with anxiety for over 30 years, found out I had a bad mitral valve in my heart when I was 45. It had been a birth defect and I almost died because of it.
exexec · 70-79, C
Yes, years ago, and a second opinion proved to be the correct path for me to take. My wife came from a family of doctors and worked for doctors for decades, so we know that doctors sometimes make mistakes.
jackjones68 · 51-55, M
Yep. And it kead to me having ligament reconstruction surgery, and a fused wrist. Because he said it was a sprain and not worth a scan.
Turned out id broken my wrist and my lunate bone had ruptured the ligaments.
If he had checked and scaned, it would have healed in 6 weeks.

Yes, 22 years ago I was told by a dr to go home and get my affairs in order after being diagnosed with cancer, needless to say I sought other advice and I’m still here today
AthrillatheHunt · 51-55, M
Was told I’d need a shot every other year into the sole of my foot for plantar fasciitis. That was 15 years ago (no shot since ).
Yes.

Yes and doctor diagnosed me that I had epilepsy but I actually never had epilepsy. I just hate that I was misdiagnosed.
Ohplease47 · F
@Minniemixer123 i was misdisgnosed epileptic because the inv commitment was retaliatory but it was only 1986 so they were very wrong but nice.. A few years later all the outpatient snakes called me a schizo. The first time I was locked up for being a dom violence victim and later I just wanted ordinary jobs and respect from the family doc. Never once again got any.

Only in AmeriKKKa. Yup up up.
Minniemixer123 · 36-40, M
@Ohplease47 I was taking medication for years.
Ohplease47 · F
@Minniemixer123 i was forced to take enough of the WRONG medication, to get let out.

Yes.

Told to take a Statin, instead of advising to lose weight and go to the gym!
yep, a GP told me I just had stress when I actually had a rare, acute autoimmune illness which could've shut down my lungs if left untreated
Tumbleweed · F
My PCP is awesome!!!
But I was prescribed a med that I'm highly allergic to, unbeknownst at the time, and my throat almost closed!
GuyWithOpinions · 31-35, M
My grandma was sent to the hospital with a shattered hip. She was screaming in pain when i showed up.

The doctors there saw that dementia was on her medical records (she was recently diagnosed, she was still fullly coherent) so when i walked in they were yelling at her to stop screaming and forcing her to take antipsychotic meds.

I was FURIOUS and yelled at them to give her pain medication because she OBVIOUSLY screaming in pain. After a good half hour of argueing i finally convinced them. They gave her a fucking T3 and put it under my name. I stayed with her till she was transfered to a different hospital.

Little did i know they now have me on file as "addicted to pain meds and forced them to give it to me."

Now its years later. Iv been in the hospital a few times and EVERYTIME i go there i get questioned out the ass like im a criminal and get misstreated. Sometimes they assuming im lying about why im there and offer me pain meds for no reason just to see how i respond.
