I notice more men than women limping as the result of a stroke

Very rarely do I see women with the same affliction.
Is that because more men have strokes than women?

According to AI in Australia

Incidence: Men have a higher crude incidence rate of first-ever strokes (approx. 217 per 100,000) compared to women (approx. 205 per 100,000).
Lifetime Risk: In 2023, around 244,756 males were living with a history of stroke, compared to 195,725 females.
Age Factor: While men have a higher incidence overall, women with stroke tend to be older and experience higher mortality and disability rates, partly because they live longer and are more likely to be affected at older, more frail ages.

Key Differences

Risk Factors: Hypertension, smoking, and low socioeconomic status are associated with a higher relative risk of stroke in women than in men.
Mortality: Women are more likely to have a significant disability after an ischemic stroke.
Mortality Rate: Despite the lower incidence rate, women are often more severely impacted upon hospital admission, and 1-year mortality is sometimes found to be higher in women, largely due to them being older and having higher stroke severity

idk my grandfather on my mothers side had a stroke and was half paralyzed and in a wheelchair till he died .. actually when it first happened the hospital wanted my grandmother to pull the plug on him but she refused.. and cared for him till the end he lived several years past his stroke but couldn't speak

i'm not sure what the ratio/stats of men to women the occurrences of stroke are or of it effects them differently when they do occur

where are you seeing these people and how do you know they had a stroke to cause their limp?

Actually more women have strokes according to the American Heart Association

@Gibbon Yes. I had a look at the figures. It seems more women have strokes but at a later age than men.
Which must account for me seeing mostly men, as women average more strokes after age 75. The mortality rate for strokes is higher for women because of the higher age.
I see a man around the neighborhood and noticed that his face looks like he constantly has a smirk.
He wasn't always like that. My guess is that he had a stroke.
Other than his facial expression he's the same
