Wanna join me for a CT scan today?

Don't all jump at once😄

I know they are about ten minutes, vs. 40 for MRI. YAY!! BUT I can't recall, is it more open too? I remember feeling so anxious in an MRI tube, with this loud humming over it, ughh! I think the CT scan machine has a bit more space and area around you as you lay on the slider?

I cannot remember, but I have had a lot over my lifetime myself having had 12 surgeries from injuries, and I will sit this one out if you do not mind.

All I can say is that I hope all goes well.🩷

@Coralmist you are Quite welcome. I know we do not sign up and get MRI's or Cat scans for fun like a carnival ride.

So best wishes with it!

Would have loved to join.
And yes, its easier than the MRI.

Do take care and sending you healing wishes. 💕

I hope all is well with you.

I rather like MRIs,myself. I've fallen asleep a few times in them, but that may have more to do with all the tranquilizer I'm doped up on.

@DunningKruger Ty Dunning🌼 Oh wow was it a type of sedation?
DunningKruger · 61-69, M
@Coralmist Just a tablet. I don't remember what it was.

CT scans are easy compared to MRI’s…I have had a lot of both.
@cherokeepatti I get at least two ct scans a year, more if I have to go to the er for anything, i hate that iodine contrast and its effects on my bladder.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@NativePortlander1970 yeah I know, I have gotten the contrast several times too.
JoyfulSilence · 51-55, M
The CT scan I had was quicker and less confining.

The MRI I had later was hard to endure. I just tried to sleep and focus on the music.

MRIs do not involve radiation. Regardless of more or less open, MRIs do not involve any risk. Because of that a physician will only order a CT scan when it is the only good option and absolutely necessary. So do it.
Cyclist · 46-50, M
@JoyfulSilence I am a physicist. X rays are a type of ionizing radiation, which means that they can damage DNA. A CT scan involves a dose of X rays several thousand times higher than a simple X ray. That is why they can be harmful. MRI does not involve ionizing radiation, so it poses no danger.

When was the last time you read about something awful happening to anyone during an MRI or a CT scan?

Never, right?

Relax, C 🤗
Coralmist · 41-45, F
@rinkydinkydoink When I had an MRI years ago, I got SO tense, from the loud humming over me ( with PTSD I Feel someone is going to come upon me if I can't hear or see well) I could barely walk when it was done😢 the pains were so bad on my whole body from tensing up for 30 minutes. I just hope there's more area around you on a CT machine
@Coralmist

I'm sorry for making it sound like it was not a big deal.

I - and everyone here - hopes you sail through your scan, Coral.

@rinkydinkydoink Thank you dinky🪻

Depends on the machine they have.
(((((HUGS))))) I have had so many ct scans with contrast I lost track, the hum from the spinning almost always wants to put me to sleep. My last one was at 1:30 in the morning when I was in the hospital a bit over a month ago.
