What do you do went your energy booster doesn't boost your energy? 🤔

Been regularly taking a certain type of energy boosting supplements. Sort of like a chocolate candy ball. I won't name the product name. Yet I will list the daily values below. Mostly because of just how high they are.

Thing is after having been taking this supplement over a month I still want to go back to sleep. 😞 The darn stuff is high in caffeine as well.

Must note I really don't take the maximum number of eight of these candy like balls. I only take at most six.

Serving size 2 pieces at total 7 grams.
Calories 30.

(Not worried about calories. I'm under weight and on a 3,000 calorie diet anyway. Have been for decades).

Total fat 1.5g 2% DV
Saturated fats 1g 5% DV
Total carbohydrates 5g 2% DV
Dietary fiber < 1g 2% DV
Sugars 4g (it's a candy after all)

Thiamin (B1) 150 mcg 10% DV
Riboflavin (B2) 170 mcg 10% DV
Vitamin B6 5mg 294% DV
Folate 68 mcg 17% DV
Vitamin B12 15 mcg 625% DV
Biotin 30 mcg 100% DV
Pantothenic acid ( Calcium) 1mg 20% DV
Iron 1mg 3% DV

Has both caffeine and green tea extract (both caffeine): 40mcg DV max is 160 mcg with eight pieces. With a warning to not recommended to take more than eight pieces

Now triple these daily values and that's what I take of these energy boosting candles. And I still want to go to sleep.

Goodnight folks!🥱🛌😴💤
Caffeine depletes adrenalin. It’s why you experience a low after the initial rush. More caffeine further depletes your adrenals. Sugar will likely negate any good effects you might get from the B complex vitamins. So, yeah. No surprise it’s not doing you any good. I’d switch up to something with less sugar, zero caffeine.

@stratosranger caffeine and sugar is cheap.

ANYTHING with protein is expensive, you name the protein type or source. I wish it was otherwise. Yet these energy candy balls cost absolutely nothing! 🤷🏻‍♂️
OK. I’m just outlining for you why the “energy” bars or balls are not working. Protein is not always the answer either. Some proteins can actually spike your estrogen levels depending on what they’re sourced from. Nutritional yeast fortified with B 12 taken twice a day will actually be absorbed by your body (most artificial B complexes are just voided in your urine). Separate vitamin D and zinc (with copper) supplements will not only boost your immune systems but may also boost your overall energy levels. Sugar? Caffeine? They just defeat whatever goal you’re reaching for. @DeWayfarer

@stratosranger just trying to survive on what I can afford.

What I can't afford is what is bought in the stores now days. So I have to use whatever I get from outside of the stores.

These candy's are fully sealed, well within expiration dates and totally free.

And since you mentioned vitamin B12 this is what these candy's have once again...

Vitamin B12 15 mcg 625% DV

Even if the caffeine and sugar undoes half the benefits it's still over 312% of the DV.

I can spot a few reasons. first of all if your lack of energy was partially due to a deficiency in B vitamins then in the begining you will feel a boosting effect from going to deficient to not deficient but then that will become less apparent because you are just back to normal. also, about caffeine, , one way to look at it is that lack of energy is not due to cafeine deficiency so if something is making you be low in energy ( lack of sleep, not drinking enough water, eating too much carbs or sugar, not exercising enough, not having a proper diet, not eating breakfast etc) and you respond to this state by taking cafeine then you haven't fixed the problem and might even be making the root problem worst if, for example, lack of deep sleep is the problem then cafeine can disturbe the ability of your body to produce sleep hormones (melatonin) . my aproach to this type of problem is to first give the body what it needs to function properly : plenty of water, a balanced diet (and also eating at the right times), avoid sugar, avoid all drugs (including coffee) , exercise every day. I would suggest also a magnesium suplement because its hard to consume enough magnesium from diet. if after giving the body all it needs to function well you still feel tired then you may want to look deeper or see a doctor. "boosting" is not a solution, it just temporarely masks the real cause of being tired.

@reflectingmonkey good yet all your suggestions mean money I don't have. 😞

Been this way for 45 years. Sometimes better than others yet never normal. Normal being between 18.5–24.9 BMI

Currently at 15.7 BMI.

@DeWayfarer don't know how it is in your area but around here (Montreal) there are so many organisations that give food that you can get an app on your phone that tells you when and where to get free food. I have a friend who is an expert at this, she just eats for free all the time.
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@reflectingmonkey oh there are some yet because most people are over weight here. The things I need just are not there. Yes proteins I need, and need badly. Yet what you will find there is everything but what I need.

What I need is expensive. Meats, cheeses, any milk products, eggs all that stuff is not found at those places.

Vegetables, fruits, starches, cereals of all kinds with and without sugar can be found there.

What can't not be found at those places is stuff like nuts or legumes (beans). Another minor source of proteins. Peanut butter? Forget it!

Yet a loaf of half baked white bread will be found by the truck loads.

I don't need those things though they are cheap enough at the store.

There is no Vitamin C in that list.

Vitamin supplements are great and all. They benefit for the body. But they only give your the barest information about the supplements on the packet. Cause supplements wont work on their own unless its with a balanced diet. You need Vitamin C.

But don't expect Vitamin C to solve the problem if you don't have cereal and milk for breakfast in the morning.
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@Thevy29 don't worry, Have another excessive gem that covers 833% the vitamin C DV ! 🤣

And as I mentioned I'm on a 3,000 calorle diet! I'm under weight.
FurryFace · 61-69, M
the worst for me was being stoned and eating a pack of assorted popping candy , fuck man ! i thought my Face was caving in , lol and the popping still goes on with the candy already gone !
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@FurryFace I got something like twelve large bottles of these things.

🤔 Mostly all that is Unnecessary
Ineffective Over-hyped 🐂 💩 🙄!

A decently priced Walmart* Multivitamin is more than you actually need! Aside for Iron and Folate which some vegans need the rest is usually gotten from a varied diet! Possibly adding to you diet may help and it won't Kill You, so it's your money!

@Valerian as I pointed out many times now. This was free! 😆

Thank you though.
Valerian · 100+, M
I take (when I remember) a Multivitamin + Iron, Magnesium, Potassium, Vitamins D & E and only because 8nown bottles of the stuff! Doctor said I don't need them except for the Potassium to help my Blood Pressure Levels.

He does an extensive blood test once a year that checks literally EVERYTHING {except ear wax levels) and I'm fine and on my ”Not Bad, but Not The Best Diet" the level of everything bare decent!
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@Valerian yet I have had problems for 45 years being under weight. I no longer have the income to afford what I need. Like the common every day protein items. So I must supplement with what I can.

This is free. I can afford free!
Jenny1234 · 51-55, F
Caffeine has zero effect on me. Some people drink a cup of coffee and cannot sleep. I can be overloaded with caffeine and still sleep anytime, anywhere
Jenny1234 · 51-55, F
@DeWayfarer maybe it’s not the right type of energy booster for you. Did you ask at the store where they sell them?
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@Jenny1234 you don't ask that type of thing from where you get something fully sealed, well within expiration dates and totally free came.

Unsold excess product really. Still totally good.
Jenny1234 · 51-55, F
@DeWayfarer I see.
Sounds like you might need a detox from caffine .
Caffine isnt the booster most people think it is.
In fact, for some people , its metabolised so quickly they end up feeling lethargic and need more.
(and can end up in a vicious cycle of dependence).

Chocolate has theobromine in it which is like a 'cousin' to caffine and becuase it takes longer to cross the blood to brain barrier , it gives a longer more subtle energy lift without the crash .
(this is best to get it from dark chocolate that doesn't have so much sugar)
You could try putting it in your coffee so that by the time the caffine starts to wear off, the theobromine is kicking in 🤷‍♀️

Edit: you also might want to look into 'bullet coffees'. They give lasting energy.
@DeWayfarer i understand shit is expensive .

But so are energy suppliments.

I just figured if you could afford that , you might be able to afford the butter.

Its hard these days, good food is so expensive 😔

Edit: 500g of butter here is $6 - $8😒
Chicken... $5 for 500g on special.
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@OogieBoogie see conversation below. This is the jist:

you don't ask that type of thing from where you get something fully sealed, well within expiration dates and totally free came.

Unsold excess product really. Still totally good.

I got twelve large bottles of this stuff plus other health products.
@DeWayfarer ah ok.
I wasn't aware of this factor .

Free is good 👍
