How do we all feel about the new Barbie movie

I have yet seen it it, however, I'm apprehensive.

I don't associate Barbie with anything culturally negative. However, she does seem to linger about in a bikini too much

I don't thing she should show so much skin unless she is inthe privacy of her back garden patio/pool area . I hope this is the case in this movie.

Fun fact is that he isn't the only, a large (20 or so?) group of conservatives - including other non-American ones, among whom a Spaniard - blocked me on the same day. The "f*ck your feelings" crowd lol

@Torsten I forget exactly where I read it last week, but apparently the marketing was geared more towards adult men, for Margot Robbie, and secondary for adult women for Ryan Gosling.

Yeah. Hollywood doesn't impress me. Barbie's sophomoric script per reviews is only going to attract idiots. So sad for Mattel. But, obviously, I am not their target audience. The last time I went to the movies was a Dinesh D'Sousa movie. I plan on seeing The Sound of Freedom, though.

I haven’t seen it, but from what I’ve heard it leans to feminism ideas. So I’m definitely gonna see it.

And it’s Margot Robbie she can show how much skin she wants, she’s gorgeous.

i think that the buzz around this, is kinda sad
we had a movie a while back
"Don't Look Up"
well made, tense, dramatic and focused on an issue that affects us all, and the reactionary resonances to existential danger. It had Big Stars too
no buzz, no buzz at all. not even on NPR
most here did not hear about it,, or see it

but now, there is the Other Big Movie this week
Oppenheimer.
by all accounts, a startlingly well crafted film
I am in the wait list for the IMAX ticket.
the creator said it is the best way to see it

It's basically to please the generation that grew up grooming Barbie dolls from childhood. Maybe that's why it's a big hit.

I like how much conversation it is sparking and how people who would have kept a thought to themselves are more apt to express it.

In that idea do you feel women are pressured to wear bathing suits are over sexualized with their attire or more that modesty in dress show class or something along those lines? Or maybe more loosely what is your thoughts on women and bathing suits
