How do we all feel about the new Barbie movie

I have yet seen it it, however, I'm apprehensive.

I don't associate Barbie with anything culturally negative. However, she does seem to linger about in a bikini too much

I don't thing she should show so much skin unless she is inthe privacy of her back garden patio/pool area . I hope this is the case in this movie.

I'm amused how much commotion it's causing. It's just a movie, lol.

@CrazyMusicLover for real it was just funny. People try to act like it represents feminism or misandry or idk what.
CrazyMusicLover31-35
@HannibalAteMeOut I haven't seen it so I don't know what people refer to but I've seen a trailer and it looks like one of those intellectually undemanding movies that you watch to relax and have fun. Like We're the Millers, Mean Girls or something like that. 馃槅 I can't believe people are politicizing even this. Anyway, mindblowing marketing. It's fascinating to watch how crazed people can get over something like this. It's as if life stopped and a large part of population suddenly got irresistible urge to watch a movie on a topic they either have never been interested in or dropped it around the age of 10. And either small or large businesses seem to respond quickly as well, making Barbie themed products. Fascinating and a bit awe-inspiring to watch. All the money pulsing around...

@CrazyMusicLover yeah it's one of those movies you watch to relax, not get angry about or whatever. I've seen people saying it's not for kids, because there are double messages. But most kids' stuff have crazy double messages and clever interpretations lol. People are just trying to find something to get mad about. And honestly I remember when I was a kid, Barbie had crazy marketing. Like ads, toys, movies etc were everywhere. Maybe I stopped paying attention but I think kids in general have gotten over Barbie or the things we used to watch and play with when we were their age. So it's like Barbie took a break and now once again tries to target her past audience.

@CrazyMusicLover I've had the very same impression as yours watching the trailer, I've initially dismissed the movie as something I may or may not watch one day if I'll have a chance to, like if it'll end up on TV or some streaming service I already paid a subscription for, but not something I'd actively try to watch. Now however, seeing all these grown ass conservative males melting down over it kinda gets you intrigued.. 馃槃

Streisand effect at its finest
CrazyMusicLover31-35
@HannibalAteMeOut I suspect they just live in a bubble where they can't look at anything without politics and "potential danger" in mind. Or they're just stuck in their 13 year old selves getting offended by as little as being exposed to pink color. You know, like a little goth teenager who takes all the blackness very seriously and probably would rather die than came to anything pink closer than a few meters. 馃槅 It's funny at that age but pretty tragic later in life.

@Elessar
seeing all these grown ass conservative males melting down over it kinda gets you intrigued
Exactly. 馃ぃ They're just another fuel to the big machine because now all of their kind will have to watch it to be able to point every detail that offends their fragile sense of masculinity and "high moral virtues".

@HannibalAteMeOut @CrazyMusicLover

Ben Shapiro burning Barbie dolls is next level insanity
HannibalAteMeOut22-25, F
@Gloomy lol I had no idea people went to such lengths. Imagine some female lawyer burning hot wheels or something 馃槀
CrazyMusicLover31-35
@Gloomy The name rings a bell but I must confess that I don't know who that is. But I have an unpleasant hunch it's an influential person so even if I don't want to know, I probably should.
Elessar26-30, M
@CrazyMusicLover It's just American culture war, their party of reference pushes it in order to sway the public away from serious topics (economics/inflation caused (also) by the trillion dollar handouts they've passed in 2020/21 and the bipartisan refusal to raise corporation taxes to help reabsorb it, the anti-vaxx fiasco, the abortion ruling fiasco, the failed Jan 6th coup, etc.), and the drones fall for it. It's some sort of Orwell's "two minutes hate" irl.

Their overseas equivalent import the same bullsh*t so it becomes global fast (e.g. I'm hearing people here complaining about "la cultura woke", that makes you want to slap them so hard they'll land in Florida). I mean, it's a thing as old as time, it's not that the Americans invented it, what's weird is that they share 99.9% of the same talking points many of which don't even make any sense outside of America. Then indeed, for it to work it requires that population to have major insecurity issues, and not only they do but also the rightwing propaganda machines all over the world are exceptionally good at identifying and exploiting them, and exporting the outrage internationally.
now all of their kind will have to watch it to be able to point every detail
馃ぃ馃ぃ Soon enough we'll see them citing entire lines or describing scenes with 100% accurate precision, and at the same time refusing to admit they've memorized the whole movie lol

Some sort of conservative "intellectual". He's the guy who's famous, among other things, for his hard-to-beat series of self-owns

CrazyMusicLover31-35
@Elessar Holy hell, and people take this guy seriously.. 馃 Social media "philosophers"...
Elessar26-30, M
@CrazyMusicLover Yup, see also Andrew Tate

IronHamster56-60, M
@Elessar Barbie doesn't get wet with Ken. Barbie gets wet with GI Joe.
Elessar26-30, M
@IronHamster Certainly not with Ben!
IronHamster56-60, M
@Elessar You butthole gets wet from Ben I bet, but he doesn't swing your way.
Elessar26-30, M
@IronHamster Projecting your closet homosexuality on me dude? 馃ぃ Not really my thing, but if that's your kink I'm not gonna judge
IronHamster56-60, M
@Elessar You are the one with the crush on Ben.
Elessar26-30, M
@IronHamster Dude, it's you the one who hijacked this thread to express your homo fantasies, not me
CrazyMusicLover31-35
@IronHamster If buttholes were able to get wet by themselves lube manufacturers wouldn't be happy. 馃

@Elessar The judge just threw Pedo Hunter's plea deal in the trash.
Elessar26-30, M
@IronHamster Trump appointed judge expressed a concern. It's not even news. And besides, I couldn't care less about Biden (jr. even less than sr.) 馃槄
IronHamster56-60, M
@Elessar Biden's laptop and phone records prove Joe was in communication regarding his fake business deals. Do you like being lied to, or do you just put up with it so you can have easier access to child porn?
Elessar26-30, M
@IronHamster They prove nothing until there'll be evidence incriminating both. There's none. Hunter has no role in the govt, unlike Kushner et al, so whether he gets indicted or not is purely inconsequential. This is pure psychological projection. And as I've said, I couldn't care less about Biden; anyone else who'll replace him will be just as good so long as they stand against Trump. ;)
IronHamster56-60, M
@Elessar Lol! Is Trump still living rent free in your head? I am sure he has a separate room in there because the rest is filled with naked children.
