First Indian-American, the first African-American, and the first female Vice President in U.S. history, the highest-ranking female elected official in United States history. First but not the last♀️
@TexChik Aha, you’re being disingenuous! You didn’t say you were right handed and you have an innie bellybutton. Bet you were hoping for some kind of political windfall just for being right handed, huh?
@puck61 If I’m not mistaken her dad was from Jamaica. She’s half black. There, that better?
“African American” is a rather ambiguous phrase because a lot of people use it to mean “black American” based on the assumption that all black people come from Africa, when in reality there are black people living in lots of different places in the world. For that matter, the Human Hearth is in Africa, so even a lily white guy like me can claim to be an “African American”.
But you knew what they meant, Kamala Harris is half black.
@puck61 I don’t know how black you are, never seen your skin before. But yeah, my bad, you’re totally right because both her parents and all her ancestors came from India. Wrong! I already told you her dad was from Jamaica, where the vast majority of the population is in fact black. What, are you going to show me a “fact” now from some “credible” source like Breitbart saying that her dad is actually from Saxony? If not, then why is it important to you to ignore the fact I presented you and to deny the rather obvious truth that Kamala Harris is half black?
@bijouxbroussard I actually realized that a bit later but I was just confused I think because for example there's black Hispanics or Arabs who are just cacausian so it all got mixed up. We're all the same anyway I don't really care about such things there's only humanity period. Thanks for your patience with me 😁
I have no problem with a female Vice President black, white or any color but Kamala Harris is an evil person who is power hungry and will try to destroy our country
@Virgo79 Nope, stupid Republicans looking for lame excuses to continue to glorify men who betrayed their country to fight for continued race-based slavery are the only ones that said that.
I mean I think whoever is best for the job should get the job regardless of whatever is between your legs or what race you are. But regardless, she's a terrible person and has done very bad things. That terrifies me with her being potential vp. Besides, Trump's gonna fight this in court. If they rule in his favor, he wins. But if not, then yeah creepy sleepy Joe will be president and Kamala as vp. Let's see what happens first. The media can't call a presidency. They have no authority to do so. It's the electoral college and also they certify whoever wins on December 14th, I believe.
Actually, she’s Indian and Jamaican. Perhaps a better statement is that she is the first American woman of color to become Vice President. Better yet, how about just woman.
@FlowersInHerHair But she calls herself black...... She is also laying claim as the first person of significant Asian heritage to hold the office. You can be both
It's about time we had a female president. Heck, I'm down for an all-female Congress and Supreme Court. It was 100% men for centuries, let the women have a shot at running it.
@LeopoldBloom I mean, that kinda sounds like the same mistake all over again just with a different aesthetic. We've spent far too long judging people by their most base characteristics instead of their values and merit.
@Mrballs Ok just wanted to know your reasoning. My husband feels the same way but he watches ultra liberal news online and I wasn't sure what is actually true. The only thing that I know about her is that when running for pres she embellished her language and experiences to seem " more black". Personally its also a peeve of mine that people who are raised in other countries or are the children of recent immigrants come over here and then claim " blackness" in politics and they receive more support politically too than homegrown black people. Im sorry but my family had different experiences and different legacies than them. Anyway I am really trying to give her a new " benefit of doubt" and not be a " hater". Maybe thats why she locked up so many people because she just can't relate.
@REMsleep I completely agree. im probably not the best to speak about his. Until they are politicians at a higher level that comes from actual African Americans that were slaves in the usa, i still don't see equality. although, i'm kind of both because my family is technically Dominican but been here for almost 100 years. However, part of my family are descendants of escaped African American slaves that went to DR/haiti. It wasn't until recently we started getting called Latino then Afro- Latino.
@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout Maybe I personally don't like her but her dad is Jamaican and black so isin't it normally to claim the heritage of your parents?
Yayyy!! But not on merit. She needed to use an old, rich, sexist, racist, womanizing white guy to get it done. But I guess principles and values mean nothing when getting ahead.
@SweetNSassy I care less about what the elitists have to say than I do the radical feminists. Also, The New York Times is pretty elite, or at least they think they are. 🙂
