I assume members that do not post, or interact on threads are just here to chat, especially if they have Private Chat listed on their profile.
They could also be here just to read stories, and posts.
Like you, I wonder why some people are even on this site.

I almost never post. I check people out by their groups and like to get to know them. If we have some groups in common I PM them. I find that nicer and more individual than posting

I'd be leery of talking to someone who has posted nothing at all. You're right to wonder why they're here, although I suppose you could talk to them about that.

It's ok to pm them in my opinion... They'll either respond or not ... Often people join up then just disappear also, life intrudes

Contrary to the often expressed sentiment on here that users with no posts are likely to be suspicious, trolls, untrustworthy etc, I can tell you categorically that’s not always true. Treat each case on its own merits I’d suggest.

It can be just as hard to get to know people that DO post lol. I gave up messaging people for the most part because they almost never respond. GL
