How do you get to know people who never post?

Sometimes I look in the explore people list and see someone whose profile looks interesting but then I see they have no posts and I don't know if its ok to message them. I think probably not because they would post if they want to talk? But then I wonder why they come here at all?

Contrary to the often expressed sentiment on here that users with no posts are likely to be suspicious, trolls, untrustworthy etc, I can tell you categorically that’s not always true. Treat each case on its own merits I’d suggest.
