Somewhere an Osha manual burst into flames...or wait y'all have an Osha manual?

Is the training to notch or more like hoping no one gets injured?

Do you like training people or would rather fold a fitted sheet till you got it right

I haaaaaate companies that don't train. It's a major red flag for me when it comes to a job. It usually means they're completely disinterested and disloyal to their employees.
@DearAmbellina2113 you just don't want to know who cleans your supermarket. We're not covered by OSHA like that cashier is.
DearAmbellina2113 · 41-45, F
@Roundandroundwego when I worked at a supermarket, the staff is who cleaned the store after hours. I've cleaned plenty of floors and toilets in my day.
@DearAmbellina2113 that's not what happens in any stores near here. Contract labor cleans, we're not employees. WinCo, Safeway, Albertsons, Fred Meyer, every school and library, -. Everyone.
Training pays off. In the USAF in fire protection, there are teams that you know are coming to see how well you function or ones that just unannounced, show up. It’s those that really check your oil, if you will.
I always in training sessions, emphasized to the various supervisors to assure their crews knew what was expected of them and to assure that training them was a priority.
We got hit unannounced. The response was made and when it was over, my chief came toward me. With him, it could be good or bad. I was in my vehicle, as the training NCO. I wasn’t too concerned as my enlistment was up in two weeks.
His comment…” I have one word for you as Asst. chief for training and your crews’ response…”FLAWLESS!”

@soar2newhighs that is fantastic and thank ya for sharing.
@LilPrincess you are most welcome!
Failure to adequately train your personnel is not only wrong but it can come back to haunt you.
@soar2newhighs janitorial staff totally are allowed to know stuff and not get fired. In your dreams!
LilPrincess · 46-50, F
@soar2newhighs absolutely. I don't see why people don't realize that
akindheart · 70-79, F
oh gosh...I am the OSHA expert at our company. I train people on this stuff...
LilPrincess · 46-50, F
@akindheart i thought i would miss it but i really don't
Magnolia21 · 22-25, F
I've trained people. Folding a thousand fitted sheets that were crumpled and had bad elastic would be easier.
LilPrincess · 46-50, F
@Magnolia21 oh yes. I used to train people on forklifts, their department and upper management and supervisors on soft skills...the fitted she would have been a blessing
To our administration, OSHA was a flexible thing. Handy as scratch paper for ball point pens and the like.
Till the inspector appeared.

LilPrincess · 46-50, F
@SethGreene531 we have only seen osha twice. Been fined both times.
Magnolia21 · 22-25, F
@SethGreene531 Yes, finally, I'm not alone. Worked with several companies where safety was a four letter word (If you can guess, you win internet points). Everyone could tell when an inspector was coming, because suddenly we no longer had to do our jobs, we spent a week or more cleaning and inspecting for any issues.
Pretzel · 70-79, M
the job before last I had to train people for jobs with us both knowing they wouldn't be there after a year or so

felt like I was rolling a boulder up a hill
LilPrincess · 46-50, F
@Pretzel been there before. Some didn't even make it 30 days
JohnOinger · 41-45, M
So what do you think of Jeffrey Dean Morgan & Would You Do Him
LilPrincess · 46-50, F
@JohnOinger
Nope
Where I've worked there's no OSHA for us. The poster about safety is in a room we may not enter except to clean it. We're called not the employees, not the team and we take away your turds for minimum wage while only you get sick pay. Since around 1995, in every supermarket, department store, library And bank.
GJOFJ3 · 61-69, M
I’m happily retired and glad I don’t have to do any training sessions anymore.
Folding a fitted sheet, I have that down to a science
LilPrincess · 46-50, F
@GJOFJ3 I have wadding them up and throwing them in the closet down to a science 😂
GJOFJ3 · 61-69, M
@LilPrincess I like that
if nothing else in the world can teach patience, training new employees will definitely do it. well, that and raising kids. theres no hope with me and fitted sheets though. LOL
LilPrincess · 46-50, F
@MayorOfCrushtown 😂 i couldn't fold one to save my life.

Exactly you can't expect people to instantly know what they are doing.

Having me as a mom has taught my kids patience 😂
1490wayb · 56-60, M
you mean my employer isnt the only one with poor\no training?? human life and safety have no value today. just hire another blind monkey off the street corner to take their place
LilPrincess · 46-50, F
@1490wayb no you are not alone. I never was so upset after I stepped away from equipment training as i was the day they gave someone about 10 minutes worth of training on a 10k lb pc of equipment. The man stated he wasn't comfortable and they put him on it anyways.

Long story short he had an accident and had to have hiw foot amputated. In my opinion the superior should have been fired
@1490wayb but the cleaning team isn't employees. Contract labor. No standard, no OSHA. No sick days. Just suffering
Depends whom I'm training, what their interest is and what I'm training them in, some training can be quite fun with the right people.
In most work environments trading is part of that environment . In the fire service, it can be a life saver.

I like training people then I know they’ll do the job right.
Degbeme · 70-79, M
Give me those fitted sheets. 😒
