Friends requests

Why is it when you send someone a friend request that they simply ignore them? Whatever happened to having common courtesy to saying yes or no thank you??
Especially frustrating when their profile says “ looking to meet new people “
🤬😤🤔
I follow people and hope they follow back. If they don't I unfollow them. I keep most of my posts on private so only my friends can see them.
Loretta78 · 46-50, F
Well, I ignore friend requests always - because for me it takes a very long time (at least one year or even longer) until I can call someone really a friend.

But I also don´t have any "invitation" for others on my profile.

And so I agree with you. When a profile says "looking to meet new people" so the minimum should be NOT to ignore a friend request and at least to react anyhow.
WandererTony · 56-60, M
@Loretta78 i just realized that you are not on my friend list. So sent you an invite. I hardly ever send invites as i fear rejection. My entire list is mostly folks who have initiated a friend request.
Hope you accept.
RosaMarie · 41-45, F
I can tell you the situations where I Ignore friend requests.

I get them from people who have never sent me a message or interacted with me in the comments. If the friends request is out of the blue with no other interactions attached, then I'll ignore it. I'll put exactly the effort the other person put into it.
Strictmichael75 · 61-69, M
@RosaMarie I contact people and they don’t even take time to reply, positively or negatively !!
RosaMarie · 41-45, F
@Strictmichael75 The OP was specifically asking about friend requests, so that's what I replied to.
Only friends see my posts. We have to follow each other.
Repete · 61-69, M
That’s a good idea. I think some don’t even look at the posts or profiles just pick names out of a hat or something. @WonderGirl
Lilymoon · F
I've allowed friend requests only to never speak to them again after doing so. I suspect a lot of them just want to see your pics. lol So now I'm cautious about who I add.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@Lilymoon do you really think everyone is only after photos? You do have great legs, in your profile photo, but even on SW friendship isn't just skin deep.

Maybe i am missing something though, how does one "request" friendship?
Lilymoon · F
@samueltyler2 No but it seems suspicious that's all .... I'm sure they are disappointed when they see there's no nudes Lol
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@Lilymoon I do have nudes on my profile page, of models i drew or photographed. I think that often turns people away, if they go there after seeing a posting.
bluesmanmark · 46-50, M
Just because you begin following another person on here, (aka a "friend request"), they're not obligated in the least to do the same. Most people with any sense will check out the profile of anyone that follows them here, (I know I do), & decide whether or not that want to associate with that person. If they chose not to, again, they have no obligation to inform you that they didn't, or why they didn't.

And no, it's not "common courtesy" to inform you, say "No thanks", etc. if they decide not to interact with you, me, or anyone else. Just accept it & move on.
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
@bluesmanmark It's not even about interaction. I don't mind interacting with most people but that doesn't mean I'm going to give the access to my private posts of private photos just to anyone.
If you're talking about here, I don't mind when people follow me, but I will only follow back if I've seen them around and feel comfortable interacting with them.
Krysclear · 31-35, F
@Spoiledbrat that seems to be the prevailing answer. I guess that’s where I’m making my mistake. Instead of just following people I need to chat with them first, my mistake was thinking that if I followed them, they would look at my profile and decide if they wanted to follow me.
DViper97 · 46-50, M
@Krysclear I have a few people that will randomly friend me, but then won’t chat or even say hi. Not sure why people do it.
MissyChrissy · 18-21, F
Sometimes they simply dont get your message, because it goes to the "requests".
It has something to do with their settings, I guess.
smileylovesgaming · 31-35, F
I really don't get friend request any longer
MasterofNone · 26-30, M
Good point. Although another possibility may be that they simply did not log in. Or they could be looking to meet new people only on the Q&A section. But I do not like the lack of normal decency to respond.
Strict4u · 56-60, M
I never send friend request but I get them and accept them and most of them I have never talked to I don’t know why they sent me one
Repete · 61-69, M
I don’t know why but for a while I was getting a lot of friends requests that had nothing in common with me . Young women wanting to wrestle or something like that . Why would a young woman want to chat with an old fart? @Strict4u
Strict4u · 56-60, M
@Repete I don’t know I get a lot like that too it don’t make sense
Repete · 61-69, M
I’m not really complaining but I agree it doesn’t make sense to me either.@Strict4u
GerOttman · 61-69, M
Perhaps they are intimidated by your beauty. Is it true that roses are ashamed to bloom in the presence of your ruby lips?
Repete · 61-69, M
Note to myself, I must remember this line.@GerOttman

Not sure what is with this site,i never have had much luck making friends ????
@Ramrod You'll get more friends when you make controversial and extreme statements. But if that's not your style, then good on you. 👍
Jeephikelove · 51-55, F
I sometimes take time to accept, I usually need some interaction first.
MrCheeky · 41-45, M
Exactly, it doesn't take much effort to show a little courtesy does it?
Strictmichael75 · 61-69, M
It’s really sad, no respect for other people, could simply so thanks but no thanks
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
I still really have no idea what a "friend" request really is. It seems to me that all you do is wish to follow someone, that means to be informed when that individual posts something. Thus, it is not really a denial of friendship, and should not be considered poor manners if you do not reply. Just me, though. I would be interested in other people's opinion.
I dont respond if Ive hardly spoken to the person
Krysclear · 31-35, F
@V00doo ok then how would you ever speak to that person to become friends if they reach out to you and you never answer them ??
@Krysclear By interacting them on posts first
Krysclear · 31-35, F
@V00doo fair enough
Ferric67 · M
I see everyone here as my imaginary friends
Repete · 61-69, M
I have a bad habit of doing that sometimes. I’m not sure why with some . I usually check their profile and even chat sometimes but for some reason I stop . The people that have their minds stuck on one subject or only wants you to do all the chatting , I can understand why I stopped but some good people I don’t know why I have done that.
Huckleberry42 · 41-45, M
Sending a friend request ;)
SW-User
Would be nice to be notified...
Cassandra900 · 31-35, F
I wonder🤔I try you🤭
SW-User
Often typical here
Barefooter25 · 46-50, M
I usually look at their profiles or read their posts before making that decision. I also look and see if me and that person have any commonalities before I choose or not to accept a friend's request.
That is a curious non-reaction when as you said all they have to do is say 'yes' or 'no'. And if someone replies with 'no' yet he or she is "looking to meet new people" it's doubly curious and a little suspect.
Highskirt · 56-60, M
Amen to that
Repete · 61-69, M
I’m not sure if they ignore it but sometimes they may be busy or they don’t see much in common.
It would be nice of them to at least say something
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
interesting point, it is similar to the fact that many may view your images and not even leave a heart.
Jlhzfromep · M
I get the same reactions but I think it is far more common for guys to be ignored than females
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
Who would turn you down? I love golf, skiing, music and art. If you want the friendship of an old guy, i am here!

Just like people who unfriend you because you disagree with one of their post. :(
Shytoshow · 56-60, M
What has happened 2 common courtesy great question
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
Did you send one to me,m. If I didn't reply, i apologize.
PeterJ · 51-55, M
Common courtesy doesn't exist anymore
Snuffy1957 · 61-69, M
That is just rude behavior and no excuse for it
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
But at the same time they are called followers. 🤷‍♀️
GeorgeTBH · 31-35, M
🤔 🤷‍♂️ I'm sure you wouldn't accept every single one
I hope it doesn't happen often to you.
BackyardShaman · 61-69, M
It’s not that big of a deal
ExtremeNext · 31-35
Maybe they just don't like you
I’ll send you a request ❤️
