What is your favorite type of wine ?

Top | New | Old
There's too many to choose a single favorite, and thusfar I've only had a little over 100 of the roughly 1,200 different Eurasian (Vitis vinifera) wine grape varieties grown commercially in any quantity (out of about 5,000 vinifera varieties altogether), some of which are in danger of extinction.

What's interesting to me is trying a different grape variety whenever possible ... you could try a different variety every time and it would be years before you would run out of options ... the ethanol will probably give you esophageal cancer before you run out of options.

If I had access to a winemaking facility and grapes from specific vineyards though, I'd like to try making experimental blends of cool climate, whole cluster syrah with sangiovese, pinotage, and a Spanish wine grape called bobal. All of these grapes over the years have given me the sense that they would be very complimentary in the ultimate meaty, almost gamey red wine blend (not a more common fruit bomb style which saturates the market regardless of grape variety used or country of origin), which is one peculiar wine flavor profile I am fascinated with and love (but not the only one ... I'd similarly like to make experimental dry, non-sparkling blends of white aromatic grapes like gewurztraminer, moschofilero and torrontes).
I like pink moscato. Mainly because its fruity. I have never liked alcohol taste.

Even though i love my royal crown, i mix it with sprite. Which i think gives it a lovely soft smooth taste
@Bexsy my favorite color . I don't like to taste it either. I do like Riesling myself.

Barefoot Sangria is probably my favorite so far. Last time I bought the Rich Red Blend. Its pretty good. The Merlot isnt bad either. Im not well versed in wines. I just drink red wine for my health.
@Penny I like to make Sangria in the summer . Especially for the beach .

I got on a wine kick from watching a movie and I tried so many different kinds & it's just really not my thing at all.
@Tumbleweed same.

@SpiritSkye When I drank Bailey's the last time, I never got sick & didn't have a hangover but the next time I went to have some, it gagged me!
@Tumbleweed My cousin made some for Christmas and it was funky. I didn't want to hurt her feelings but I didn't drink it either.
Love reds- love a treat English sparkling wine too!

Prosecco, Raboso, Merlot, Cabernet, Raboso, Nero d'Avola, Pinot grigio, Barbera d'Asti, Amarone/Valpolicella on top of my mind (and not necessarily in this order)

Why I keep it at just one or two only every now and then

@Northwest Give her the glass of wine and buy her a new dress. Then she won't whine.

Red, and very dry!
@SpiritSkye I know a lot people for whom that is true. The tannins, perhaps ? 🤔
@bijouxbroussard Possibly. I can drink white in moderation and not have an issue .
Wireman · 31-35, M
@SpiritSkye I think a red should be at least three years old to revent the headache. But I can't wait for it.
V00doo · M
