Do you double dip the chip?

So Seinfeld is like my all time favorite show.
And there’s this scene where George is eating chips and dip. And he dips the chip in the salsa, takes a bite… then dips remaining chip back into the dip!!

Another character (Timmy) sees that and makes a point that by double dipping your basically putting your germs into the dip..
George doesn’t care and he’s about to double dip again and a scuffle for the chip breaks out 😂 (dumb I know)

Anyways I double dip if it’s my personal dip and chips, if it’s like a party tray I take 1 dip and end it..

Thoughts, comments, concerns? 😂🙈

I understand the comedic license here, however, this is actually a serious issue when faced with the challenge of sufficient chip to dip ratio. Proper chip to dip ratio sometimes requires multiple dipping, as opposed to a huge portion of dip which either falls off, or necessitates manipulation to cover the entire chip. The solution here is actually quite simple.

Just break the chip into appropriate dip-able portions prior to dipping.

They did a study on mythbusters on this topic, inspired by this episode. They tried to measure the bacteria before and after double dipping. They couldn’t make a determination because there was already too much preexisting bacteria in the dip to quantify a result.

That's me, too. If I'm alone, I'll double dip. But if there's anyone else dipping, I won't. And I don't want [i]them[/i] double-dipping, either.

You have the proper etiquette in place. If you want to be daring for veggies you might be able to get away with dipping one end in , bite then flip it and dip the clean end in.

Interestingly, someone did some research and from what I remember, double dipping did not seem to be a germ spreading practice. [/c]

With family or close friends double dipping isn't an issue. At a party with random people or folks I don't know well, I prefer to take a plate and keep my dipping to myself.
