Primordial .....;)

We have already entered it with that first cold front from the Arctic that blew in here in Oklahoma about a week and a half before September started. I’ve made Thai chicken Tom Kha soup, Red curry soup, Leek & Potato Soup, Chicken & Veggie soup, Basil-Tomato soup (from scratch like the rest), planning on making Red Lentil with Carrot & Sweet Potato, Meatball with Cinnamon & Rice in Tomato Soup, Lentil Chili, Chicken Wild Rice soup, Italian White Bean Soup, and many others in the fall and winter. Whatever you are hungry for make it. I have saved dozens of soup recipes in my Pinterest account and hope I can make some of those soon too.
@cherokeepatti I didn't eat leeks until I was a grown-up and I'm glad I tried it too because it's such a versatile vegetable; it can go with many other foods. We have it year-round here, fortunately. I also use leeks with Zucchini, I cut them up , with half a green pepper and boil them together then use the hand blender, boil some more and add heavy cream (the cooking kind , not for sweets) and it 's so pleasantly delicious☺

@LilMissAnonyMOUSE that soup sounds delicious too.
@cherokeepatti ☺👍

Considering there's still overlap with tomato season, I would trying going for a roasted heirloom tomato soup, maybe with some roasted red peppers for extra flavor. That's what I plan on doing soon. I also recently made some Italian-seasoned croutons could work really well with that
@TinyViolins 🙂I made a version of that yesterday, I roasted tomatoes with onion and garlic, put them in the blender, then in a saucepan to heat adding a little bit of water. Then served it with grated cheese on top with some homemade herbed croutons.
Yes, it's another thing I love about the Autumn season. I would suggest Vichyssoise if you like it. Served cold or hot , depending on your preference. It's easy to make and just using common, simple ingredients : Potatoes, leeks, onion, some garlic powder and cream. You can add some chives to garnish if you like.
@cherokeepatti You can open a restaurant and I bet you would have the entire town falling in line outside!

@LilMissAnonyMOUSE At one time I kind of fantasized about doing that. Having 5 standard soups and one or two seasonal ones that would rotate….and making a variety of muffins to go along with the soups, and offer crackers of course. Cornbread muffins, blueberry muffins, etc.
@cherokeepatti You'd get my vote for a Michelin star!🎖

Yummm... makes me hungry...and to think I just had dinner 4 hours ago lol😂

Do you have an instant pot? I made this during the pandemic, with homemade bread, and thought it was delicious.

chili

I know the anger and hate will be coming for that but...chili
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@Pretzel There are so many types of chili though. I made a recipe for curried lentils that tasted just as good as chili made with ground beef chili meat. It was a vegan recipe and had tamarind pulp as an interesting ingredient. I topped it with chopped onions, a bit of sour cream and grated cheese, every bit of it was eaten.

@cherokeepatti I have one word for you...
Yum
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@Pretzel I thought I was just making curried lentils but turns out it was like a vegan chili. I’m glad I tried that recipe.
