I am perfectly happy having wine or beer with dinner while she drinks water, and I am fine sipping a drink in the evening while reading a book or talking with her, even if she is not drinking.

In the past, I found myself attached to a family of heavy drinkers and drug users. I found that drinking and drug use in the ex, whom I used to date before marriage, eventually created in him an insanity that I never want to see again.

That being said, I would not want to date a tight a$$, or someone who was no fun. if I were willing to date again, I would look for someone who knew how to laugh and have fun without the booze and the drugs.
