Why is it difficult to eat peanut butter ? I could only a small bit of it and it gets caught tight in my chest and throat.

Really have to drink water as it feels I'm choking.

Eat chunchy peanut butter, don't get that problem
WillaKissing · 61-69, M
That is a question for your doctor to explore/evaluate the next time you see the doctor.

It's thick, eat it slowly and with something to wash it down
GoFish ·
Are you eating it with anything?
SW-User
@GoFish no. I've tried toast but makes toast go down slow too.
GoFish ·
@SW-User you're just trying to eat it straight plain out of the jar?

You MIGHT have a mild peanut allergy. I would definitely stop eating peanut butter if I were you...AND it wouldn't be a BAD idea to visit an allergist to confirm whether or not you DO have such an allergy.

@SW-User Well, that's a GOOD thing. I am just concerned that your throat is tightening up. Because your throat closing IS one of the symptoms.
SW-User
@4meAndyou ok.. I can't digest almonds either . Constipation is really bad then
4meAndyou · F
@SW-User You MIGHT have an intolerance...not quite the same as an allergy. But almonds are actually NUTS, while peanuts are not...they are a member of the legume family. Still, most people who can't tolerate nuts ALSO have a low tolerance for peanuts.
Some of us just don't care for peanut butter. IMHO it's grotesque.

Dribk milk

Do you just swallow it all in one shot?
SW-User
@GuyWithOpinions no I chew it. But still happens

Don't know maybe you have a throat muscle issue. I eat it by the spoonful.
