It’s personal responsibility I gave up soda lost 20 lbs I started walking the mile to work lost 20 more lbs I gave up the car taking the bus and walking, instead; saved 1200 a month chose to eat better and have far less stress. Fitness health and mood. attitude is the key! choose to be healthy!
Smile more tell jokes be happy. Don’t choose cheap/easy; be positive. The trick is convenience and what ppl are accustomed too. Corporations want profit individuals can choose to let themselves prosper or take the easy path and feed the “corporations”.
Choice

Therealsteve · 31-35, M
@jehova Yes, so aim for meaning and responsibility :)

@Therealsteve I did it’s better but for health reasons (brain tumor and the resultant job loss) I should be depressed I choose to be happy/positive

I appreciate your message yes it a simple choice eat an apple for 75¢ or a dollar menu hamburger. The apple is more filling. Simplified. Unfortunately it also boils down to food availability advertising education and status. “Peer pressure” and making choices. I’ve done the math and it is an easy equation.
Kids are often unaware of this and want or think that the expensive option is always better. Often it tastes better.
Politicians often think and act this way too (children). Wait what.
Healthy food Is plenty available most of the time. Ppl just want to externalize blame.
Simple!

Exactly. When you consume empty calories they don’t contribute anything to your health or metabolism and they rob nutrients from your body in order to digest them. Sugary foods are a good example. Sugar can mess with the thyroid and hormone balance and make the thyroid and metabolism to slow down.

Beans or scrambled eggs with veggies are cheaper than fast and processed foods that cost more for example.
I do think healthier food tends to be more expensive .. but by shopping sales, using coupons .. not buying the snacky junk on top of food for meals .. not having carry out as often .. I am saving money too overall, though its more work

I agree. Fresh is best and cheaper. But what people are paying for is convenient. The processing that goes into making foods simpler and quicker to prepare is what people are paying for. Shop at a farmers market and spend more time in food preparation and you will save a lot of money..😷
Therealsteve · 31-35, M
@whowasthatmaskedman That takes a bit of effort though, and people would rather blame something else than their own lack of strength of character.

@Therealsteve Yeah!.. I wont push the point any further. You covered it..😷

There are a million and one reasons anyone could struggle with taking good care of themselves and making good decisions. Life is hard and people's mind's are fragile and complicated.

@Vengabus Really? Name 20

@Therealsteve take my last sentence and extrapolate by a factor of 20

Cooking from scratch is cheaper and healthier in the long term, but requires a large capital outlay from the outset (to buy pots, pans and kitchen cupboard staples) and time and effort to source and buy fresh ingredients. Many people today are struggling with spare cash or time and are dependent upon what is presented cheaply for them at their nearest convenience store.

Excuses, excuses

@Patriot96 Beans, lentils, brown rice, cabbage (coleslaw mix is less than $2 for 2 pounds and that makes a lot of slaw), sweet potatoes, chicken legs., carrots, fresh fruit in season, veggies on sale, and so many other foods are healthy enough and affordable. I can cook a meal for about a third of the price of restaurant foods and avoid inflammatory ingredients substituting healthy ones instead.

@jshm2 I am doing a degree in Applied Health, which is the study of health outcomes on the level of the population. Currently attaining straight As. Just finished a paper on obesity. I also direct the entirety of my state's St John Ambulance children's health education activities. And happy to prove both of those.
Healthy food is more expensive here..
processed foods and Xbox = fatties

@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout I am doing that too. I eat so much salad and veggies I feel like a cow in a cabbage patch. Well I feel better now even with cancer, better than the first time and Ray is doing well too. He has been going to his business every day, hasn’t skipped a day yet. Have to drop him off at his car lot after chemo and testing etc.
