Do you order a starter at a restaurant or, like me, think they ruin your appetite and spoil your main course?

I stay home.. my hub likes the take out plates at the local Chinese restaurant tho i put his fave chicken and rice plus a salad and cake

I like the other chicken and potatoes and corn fritters and green beans

It depends .. my sons and I sometimes split an order of calamari, Chinese dumplings, etc that I never get on my own

Never ordered starter for myself. Only in a group setting was "starter/appetizer" necessary.

That's a starters purpose. It takes time to make dinners for groups of people. Especially if they should come out all at once.

If we were out to dinner with a drinking crowd, (usually the ex's family), we might order appetizers with our drinks, so that we would not get too tipsy. Then we might order our food a half hour later.

We live by the ocean, so the seafood is pretty good. We usually have a couple starters from the following: calamari, shrimp cocktail, crab cakes or chowder.

Often I’ll order an appetiser which is often bread, for everyone on the table to share.

I don't usually, sometimes my daughter and I will just get appetizers as lunch with some fruit or something.

Some places apply pressure to order a 'starter' esp if it's couple having a romantic outing, almost like it's 'code' for 'if you don't we will ruin your day'.

Sometimes yes, sometimes no,all depends on how hungry we are and what kind of starters are on the menu. :)

At an indian place, I once ordered some of their special bread. Turned out it was a Naan Starter🤣😂

My wife and I split a starter. But before that we get drinks. She gets a mixed drink. I get scotch.
