I hate sending food back

But my burger is too overdone. I typically just deal with things because you never know what if they spit on it if you send it back? Fingers crossed it's ok!!

I sent a fish sandwich back because I took a bite of it and it was still frozen. I took it back and the guy argued with me saying there was no way it could happen because it was timed in the frier. I showed him it was still frozen and he kept arguing. I mean did he think I had a frozen fish patty in my pocket and traded it. I did get a fresh cooked sandwich but still ...

Yea never end it back unless it may be dangerous, like too cold/

We were once treated so poorly by a waitress that we feared she would slash out tires. An all we did was politely ask a second time for forks and knives
@Heartlander Sounds like Bonnie, a 60 something server at one of the hotel restaurants I cooked at, she was the hotwl owner's sister, so we couldn't fire her, she had an attitude bigger than her waist.

@NativePortlander1970Sounds about right. We were told by her that if we ever came back to that restaurant we had better not sit at her tables.

Our food was getting cold and we asked another waitress that was passing by for utensils. That pissed off the mad waitress because she claimed that asking the 2nd waitress made her look bad in the eyes of the rest of the staff, and if we needed something we only had to ask once, an she was going to get us the utensils as soon as she had time to do so.
@Heartlander That's definitely Bonnie
Had the opposite experience this WE .. was served a med rare burger. It looked like they just showed it to the grill instead of cooking it on it.
@BrandNewMan That never happens, cooks are trained to check for doneness with every order. The next time you order a burger from a casual/diner, look for the notch on the edge of it, not only are we supposed to test squishyness with the tip of our finger, it's supposed to resist, but we cut a barely noticable notch on the edge of the burger to see if the juices still run red or clear, most servers don't know that trick.

@BrandNewMan That may be a violation of most food codes. Hopefully they corrected the situation.
@Heartlander It usually is, burgers must be cooked to a well done 165F, unless, in most states, a waiver is signed acknowledging food borne illnesses associated with certain undercooked foods.
Same tbh, I never send food back, I would be scared

@AbsolutelyFabulous Yup but unfortunately it's just too overdone. Like burned. Hopefully it's ok and the person /chef is kind
MartinTheFirst · 26-30, M
I only send things back if it's raw, like I can't eat it at that point. If it's a bad experience I just never go back really
Notsimilarreally · 31-35, F
I worry about what they do back there anyway! Have heard some stories. Yuck

@Coralmist I hope that's most people working in a kitchen. If you're nice, you'll be alright. Kitchen people like to be nice to nice people
Coralmist · 41-45, F
@caPnAhab I spoke to manager , wish I could have asked chefs myself!! Then they'd know it's not against them. But the manager was so nice, so fingers crossed
As a former restaurant cook we have to make sure certain foods are done to a certain temp, all ground meats must be done to 165F. However if You believe your meal is over cooked, don't be afraid to send it back, that fear is a thing of the past because professional cooks, even at the casuals like IHOP and Denny's, or your local coffee shop/diner, thinks it's unprofessional, we take our cooking seriously and do not want to risk our jobs, because with cameras everywhere now, they know they'll be caught.

Banksy83 · 41-45, M
@Coralmist You'll end up getting barred
Coralmist · 41-45, F
@Banksy83 if you can't even eat /chew the food, I'm going with you need to speak up. I did get a New burger and no, I don't believe they'd bar me for that😮
Banksy83 · 41-45, M
@Coralmist They will march you off the premises
