I think this is why kidneys are paired with steak in a pie. Delicious though. If you don't want it I'll have it 😋

@UnderLockDown I think it vanishes when mixed with beef and gravy and pastry

@Lhayezee 😆Maybe I'll try it outside.

@UnderLockDown @Lhayezee It also depends on which animal's kidneys you use - pig's offal has a very strong smell and taste which doesn't appeal to me; lamb's has a nuttiness though, in my opinion. As Lizzie says though, when cooked with beef and gravy it all blends in.

I had steak and kidney pie in a pub in Ireland...(I'm adventurous and like to try "exotic" foods), and it was quite nasty. No need for more organ meats in my world. 🤮

@Thinkerbell Yes...very nasty. My mother tried to cook liver and onions for my father once, and the house filled up with the smell of burned sh!t. 🤣🤣🤣
UnderLockDown · M
@4meAndyou I like liver. Fried in bacon fat with lots of green onions.😋

@UnderLockDown I have heard that it doesn't have to smell like burning sh!t...but my mother could have filled and encyclopedia with what she didn't know about cooking.

{@underlockdown ]😆 not to put you off kidney for ever as i love it in a steak and kidney pie .it probably does smell as that is where urine is made
UnderLockDown · M
@smiler2012 I know why it smells, but does it taste like that? Does that ... essence, somehow get lost when it hits your taste buds?
smiler2012 · 61-69
@UnderLockDown 🤷♂️ maybe but if you thought about what we eat as in meat we would not eat it 😆
