Is wine better cold?

I knew a guy who was really into red wine.He insisted that the best way to drink it was after itvwas in the refrigerator for several hours. Is this true?If so,why would this be?

Full-Bodied Reds: 64 to 65 degrees
Medium-Bodied Reds: 60 to 62 degrees
Light-Bodied Reds: 55 to 60 degrees

The following red wines are better when served chilled:

Chiron
Côtes du Rhone
Cru Beaujolais
Fichimori

i am not a red wine drinker. i don't like the taste of tannin but i found a red wine in Italy called Brunella, organic and beautiful ruby red. it was outstanding. my favorite white wine is Chenin Blanc

@akindheart You meant to say brunello, probably Italy's most complex wine. Definitely best at full-bodied red temperatures.

@laotzu92 forgive me. yes

I enjoy it best when it’s in a glass in front of me

@carpediem I know what you mean.White wine does NOT appeal to me.

@carpediem I mean,I heard its supposed to be paired with fish, but I think I'd still take a good bottle of red wine with salmon!

@DavidT8899 Wine you don’t like doesn’t go with anything. Screw the “experts “. I know what I like lol

Gnerally not true for red wine if it is halfway decent. In summer one might want to chill it a bit so it is at a "cellar temperature"
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
Cooler temperatures accentuate acidity and tannin. Lighter red wines such as Beaujolais are goid served chilled.

depends on the type, some wines are best cold, some are only good room temp
I always chill it but I really don't know.

wine is better not tasting like it usually does

🤔 I've never noticed a big difference

I don't mind it cold but I find the flavors are more subtle at room temperature.
