American food

As an American, I’m constantly surrounded by Americanized versions of foreign cuisines. We’re a country of immigrants, so the mingling of natives with immigrants creates brand new fusion cuisines. Tex-Mex food isn’t exactly Mexican food…but it isn’t exactly standard American food either. The same goes with Italian-American food, Chinese-American food, etc.

So here’s what I’ve always wondered. Do other countries, particularly ones with lots of American immigrants, have their own unique versions of American food? The USA has Italian-American food, but does Italy have American-Italian food? The USA has Tex-Mex food, but does Mexico have Mex-Tex food? 🤔

I haven’t traveled internationally a lot, so I’m genuinely curious to know from someone who has.

American Southern Cooking, is not duplicated anywhere!!!

@GeistInTheMachine We may need to polish that, up a bit!

Covid, and all. I'm not seeing a 'key' marketing concept there!
GeistInTheMachine · 31-35, M
@Oster1 Everyone's a critic. 😒

Back to Google Analytics Amazon SEO marketing for me, then.

But can I interest you in how I just upgraded my online business with five instagram onlyfans models on this random rich person's Porche in order to combat my crippling cold approach anxiety on Tinder?

@GeistInTheMachine 🤣🤣😂😂😅😁

I love it! Awesome content! 😊
When I was in Japan, MOS Burger had some very funky Japanese-ified burgers. Like burgers with prawn or fish sauce or some such. Jolly Pasta had some funky pizzas and pastas that were similar. With fish bits and not right cheese and sauce. Adaptations to American adaptations to Italian food.

The Australian burger "with the lot" is a glorious version of the burger with beetroot, pineapple, bacon, and egg on a burger. A real contribution to the art of burger. Not sure if it's a play off the American burger, or off a UK version of the American burger.

@CopperCicada The radiation must have cooked their burgers funny.
RopinTexan · 36-40, M
@CopperCicada Burgers with fish sauce actually sounds quite good.
@RopinTexan Yeah. I liked both MOS Burger and Jolly Pasta.

When I was in London in 86, there was a place advertising Southern Fried Chicken. Being from the South I had to try it. It was pretty damn good. I do remember going to a KFC and asking for all white meat and the counter person tells me it's all white meat. Ummmm...no
GeistInTheMachine · 31-35, M
@JohnnyNoir Pfft, fine!

Be that way!

Is it 'cause I'm brown?

Look, throw in a little of that Daytona Special Moonshine and I will spice the deal up with my special gator fried gumbo stew.

The last time you nana got the front row seats and she got all the trophies from the lynching, and I didn't get to take my picture next to him, which is just straight up discrimination once you think about it.

Man, talk about the New Jim Crow.

MSNBC will have a field day with this one!

And maybe this will get BullShitBatShitOreilly out of retirement with his sus sodden strange loofa sponge...

(If this don't do it, nothing will!)
RopinTexan · 36-40, M
@JohnnyNoir Was if any different than real, American fried chicken, or was it Brit-ified somehow?
JohnnyNoir · 56-60, M
@RopinTexan I thought it was pretty authentic. I love fried chicken and was quite impressed

Eventually, we'll colonize the food so much it will be one food brick. We will have one uniculture, one party to vote for, and we'll all be that shade of Jersey Shore tan.

And then the End will come.
Crazywaterspring · 61-69, M
You've never been to the Philippines. They knock off most every cuisine and add their own twist.

Marinated hamburger with oyster sauce for instance. Or stewed ribs.
Ontheroad · M
It sort of depends... the swanky places, international hotels, tourist areas, etc., often have what one might call fusionized local dishes and international cuisine, but outside of that, you'll find the local cuisine to be fairly common - not home cooking exactly, but certainly local cuisine restaurant style. Those i are eateries I always preferred.
@Ontheroad that's definitely true for local cuisine, but what about authentic foreign cuisine?
Like burgers and ribs? We have them, but I don't know if they are real American.

@NerdyPotato The original Hamburger started out life as a fried meat Patty in the German city of Hamburg and was discovered by US service men after WW2 and bought to the US. The “hamburger” retained its name from its city of origin.

Since then it has been experimented with in many, many ways…
RopinTexan · 36-40, M
@NerdyPotato Where do you live?
@RopinTexan the Netherlands

Other countries do it too. In France it’s common to serve a hamburger with a fried egg on top of the meat, for example.
justanothername · 51-55, M
Short answer is yes, most countries have their traditional dishes and they have their fusion type dishes.

I guess all countries do, we have Chinese foods that aren't anything like the food that's eaten in China
GeistInTheMachine · 31-35, M
@SW-User That's not really a fair comparison.

Just because all countries have cats and dogs walking around doesn't mean you have to rub China's nose in it.

The CCP only drinks the blood of innocent Christian children on Sundays, I am sure they are too busy to worry about the problem of chinese food walking around everwhere.

Just be glad China invented a semi-sentient Doo Dash delivery clone service, and stop being so lowkey racist, colonizer.

@SW-User ...Why is everything around me suddenly looking like a Uygher Muslim reducation camp?

Huh?

Why yes, I apologize to giant portrait of Great Leader now, where do I sign up?

Ooops, Wrong one?! So sorry!

I am just an innocent victim of subpar racist American Western schooling.

I only graduated because I was the only one in my class to survive the epic meme pranksters who tic tocked their mass shooting live on YouTube.

I ran faster than their bullets until one tackeled my spine.

It's alright though, because my insurance covered half of it.

@GeistInTheMachine congratulations 🤣🤣🤣

I've always been curious about this myself.
