American food

As an American, I’m constantly surrounded by Americanized versions of foreign cuisines. We’re a country of immigrants, so the mingling of natives with immigrants creates brand new fusion cuisines. Tex-Mex food isn’t exactly Mexican food…but it isn’t exactly standard American food either. The same goes with Italian-American food, Chinese-American food, etc.

So here’s what I’ve always wondered. Do other countries, particularly ones with lots of American immigrants, have their own unique versions of American food? The USA has Italian-American food, but does Italy have American-Italian food? The USA has Tex-Mex food, but does Mexico have Mex-Tex food? 🤔

I haven’t traveled internationally a lot, so I’m genuinely curious to know from someone who has.

When I was in London in 86, there was a place advertising Southern Fried Chicken. Being from the South I had to try it. It was pretty damn good. I do remember going to a KFC and asking for all white meat and the counter person tells me it's all white meat. Ummmm...no

@JohnnyNoir The dark meat is behind the counter, and that is why you can't see 'em.

But paw said they were born that way so it's ok with me.

Just don't tell upper management, because I hear they are in with the police cheif and people who don't glow in the dark get a little cobtroversial here after uncle earl and his friends get done playing the Nascars on Xbox.

@GeistInTheMachine that sounds like a weekend at my house

@JohnnyNoir When can I come over for a barbeque and a cross burning?

I'll bring the rope if you bring the beer. 😏

@GeistInTheMachine oh lort! Cross burning is a ways down the road from me

@JohnnyNoir Pfft, fine!

Be that way!

Is it 'cause I'm brown?

Look, throw in a little of that Daytona Special Moonshine and I will spice the deal up with my special gator fried gumbo stew.

The last time you nana got the front row seats and she got all the trophies from the lynching, and I didn't get to take my picture next to him, which is just straight up discrimination once you think about it.

Man, talk about the New Jim Crow.

MSNBC will have a field day with this one!

And maybe this will get BullShitBatShitOreilly out of retirement with his sus sodden strange loofa sponge...

(If this don't do it, nothing will!)

@JohnnyNoir Was if any different than real, American fried chicken, or was it Brit-ified somehow?
JohnnyNoir · 61-69, M
@RopinTexan I thought it was pretty authentic. I love fried chicken and was quite impressed
